The soap recipe I have uses Lux flakes or a Pure Soap bar grated. I'm not sure if that would be any better though, as even pure soap was a problem for DD when her eczema was bad as any soap will dry the skin out if it's prone to eczema.
No Smells, this recipe has oats and milk powder in it.
I'm making liquid soap tomorrow with lux, lavender oil and glycerine (and water).
Lucy I get the food to face thing but I'm after recipes, and tried and true stuff. I've found lots on blogs but it would be great to have people who do it and have done it to speak to if it fudges as it can happen sometimes.
Um, I'm not sure I get you. The stuff I have on my blog is well and truly tried and true. I don't make many creams and lotions anymore unless I am making them for presents due to volume/non-preservative factor, most of it needs to be kept in the fridge.
Although I have a good face mix that can be kept dry and the liquid added only when you need it. I should get it out of the drafts folder.
I do bath stuff too. I do a salt bath mix and an oat tea bag as well.
With my salts I do:
1 kg epson salts
1 tsp bicarb soda
4 drops essential oil (let's say Lavender for this one)
2 drops essential oil (vanilla?)
4 sprigs lavender flower
Mix everything together in a large stainless steel bowl. Pour into glass containers with lids and tie a purple ribbon around it... I also use citrus oils and bergamot, or rosemary oil and cleary sage....
Oat Teabags
I use swiss voil from spotlight that I make little bags with and then tie a nice ribbon that I've sewn in around.
Each bag has: 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda, essential oils (4 drops) and 1/2 tsp oil... like Lucy said either avocado oil or sometimes I use cold pressed olive oil.
I recently bought myself a book on making soaps, in a quicker way than having to let the soaps sit for weeks on end to get the chemical change to happen.
I will dig it out later and see if its got any soaps for sensitive skin, as from memory looking through it, its mostly (from memory, so I could be wrong) based on turning borax or whatever it is into soap (like most soaps are anyway).
