I'm not going to lie - a naval piercing the second time HURTS like a *****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The needle will go through scar tissue and it will really hurt because the skin is a lot thicker and tougher and they really have to force the needle through. I've had the top of my belly button pierced twice and the bottom pierced twice. OUCH!!!!!!!!

Never again will I subject myself to that!

I am really scared now, but hopefully I wont chicken out. I have Emla cream, I used it for DD1 when I got her ears pierced. I might have to put heaps of it all over the navel area. God I hope it works.

I got mine pierced after pregnancy/birth and it did not hurt at all. The only bit that sort of hurt(was uncomfortable really) was the clamp. I have scar tissue there from a botched self piercing done back in high school too.

I have a high pain threshold and honestly my ear piercings hurt more than my belly.

I have a pretty high pain threshold too, so hopefully I will be ok. I've had my tongue pierced before and didnt think that hurt at all (I had it in for 5 yrs but took it out when I became a mum). I hope the Emla cream works well.

I always figure if you've gone through labour, a piercing is a complete walk in the park!!!
I have a pretty high pain threshold so piercings honestly don't bother me for more than the three seconds of stinging it takes to get the needle through skin, but I really don't think navel piercings are that bad. My navel was my first 'real' body piercing (ears don't count lol), my parents took me to get it done for my 13th birthday and I didn't use creams, patches or any form of anaesthetic... It stung for a few seconds but yeah after that it was all done, the healing process was worse because of the itching and rubbing against clothing!!

But yeah, just try to think of it that way - you've birthed a child, there is nothing on earth more painful than that, and a piercing might hurt for a couple of seconds but then you have years of a gorgeous little sparkle on your bod!! It's worth the momentary pain

I just reread my post - I so didn't mean to scare you!!! LOL

Trust me when I say there are much more painful piercings than your navel. I just found mine to hurt a lot because of the scar tissue but I have had way worse! If you want a virtually pain-free piercing - get your tongue done! Didn't hurt a bit!

Yeah I had my tongue pierced, I had it for 5 years and took it out when I became a mum. I kind've wish I hadnt taken that out either. My tongue never hurt but funnily enough I reckon I'd be scared if I had to go and get it done again (even though I know it doesnt hurt).
