Red face Ok.... So I shave....

My lower region but was thinking of trying it waxed!
I'm not very good with pain yet I gave birth to 2 boys with out drugs.

So this is my question to all of you BB ladies that have \/\/\down there/\/\/waxed!

    Does it hurt?
how far do you go just a little or the lot?
What else do you get waxed?
How do you prepare for the pain?
How was your 1st time experience?

For me i dont find it hurt all that much. They say the first wax is the worst, but every wax after that gets less painful.
I got it all taken off.
I dont get anything else waxed, although i plan on getting my eyebrows waxed every 6w again.
I cant say you can prepare for the pain.
First time experience was a bit nervous, and a bit shy and i was scared about the pain, but it really wasnt all that bad. The lady that waxed me was very impressed with my pain tolerance. I did have to grit my teeth to start off with but after a few strips I was ok with the pain and fully relaxed.

I've had waxing and I've do my own epilating.

TBH, the waxing was uncomfortable at the end, but I suppose I could have had a haircut first IYKWIM. The sides and edges etc didn't hurt. Upper lip, now that hurt! Legs were quite comfortable and relaxing. Underarms not that great. (Apparently I have a really great pain threshhold too - I wonder if it just doesn't hurt and we're all told that to preserve a myth? LOL.)

I usually like just a neaten up job, doesn't hurt. I can do most of that at home with an epilator, not that painful.

What you need to do is try plucking - I know. Just 1-2 hairs every few days during your cycle. I find that if I'm on my period I don't notice, but if I'm ovulating then it HURTS. Time your waxing session around when you have the least pain (probably period time for everyone TBH).

Hi I have all mine waxed off - I do it myself because I am a beauty therapist so I do it for a living! The best way to go IMO is to give yourself a hair cut (about 3/4 of a cm to 1 cm is good) and have a g-string wax first so you can build up your confidence! There is nothing worse than being in pain and a bit embaressed as well!
Hot wax is less stingy than strip so I use this, its also a little bit nicer to your skin
Exfoliate in the morning before your wax as this helps too.

    Good luck!

I just leave a 'landing strip' I don't find it painful, the first time is the worst and then it can be quite relaxing if you can lie back and go with it.

I'm different to Rosehip Fairy, I make sure to avoid my period time coz it HURTS then! I agree with the plucking thing .. see when you find ur less sensitive and book ur appointment for that bit of your cycle.

I've never used it for waxing, but when I had some laser hair removal on my bikini line & underarms they gave me an ice pack to use to 'numb' things up which worked really well. Not sure if that would work for waxing? Maybe Joeve could tell us? I used to take a gel pack out of the freezer and 'sit' on it on the way to the therapist

I have it all off here and try to go every 5 weeks but these days with 2 dd's i find i may only go 3 monthly. Down there i go- all off i also wax my legs, eyebrows and underarms. TBH it is uncomfortable whilst they are doing it but its tolerable iykwim and i'm a wuss. I usually find i am a little sensitive for the first few hours but then fine. I have been going for 7yrs now religiously. I much prefer the hot wax over the stip wax as i find with the strip i always seem to get burnt and peel like i've been sunburnt and its not pleasent. Maybe i'm just extra sensitive but i never have any probs with hot wax. I also epilady my legs if i havent had them waxed for a while and IMO it hurts more than waxing.

    Totally agree!!

I'd ask when you ring to make an appointment and make sure they use hot wax

Hmmm... when i had down there waxed (I had a brazillian) it absolutely killed LOL. I wasn't crying as such but my eyes were tearing up. And I wouldn't say that I am that hairy LOL.

A friend of mine gets it done quite regularly and said it gets less painful with time. I think you either deaden the nerves or they get use to it. But once was enough for me and I stick to shaving. I hate pain though, hehe.

    Good Luck

I honestly found that waxing behind my knees hurt more than the full brazilian. I shave now, though, but that's just because it's easier to find the time.

I get a Brazillian, and leave a landing strip also. I didn't find it hurt that much - my bum crack (sorry TMI..) was probably the most painful place, but it is over pretty quick.

I can recommend a great waxing place on Fitzroy St, they were the ones who bought the brazillian to Australia, and i found they did a great job. I think that a good waxer makes it less painful - and of the 3 different places i've tried, these were the best.

I wax the lot and sometimes leave a triangle.

The first wax hurts the most - especially if you have shaved in the past as the hairs are coarse.

Each wax after the first gets less and less painful. It is completely worth getting done IMO as it takes weeks for the hair to even start growing pack (as opposed to a few days with shaving).

The most painful part is usually the top/middle (which is why I leave a triangle now!). Bum crack is never pleasant either! I find if you just try to breath through it and relax it hurts less. If you tense up when you know its coming it will hurt like h3ll!!!!

I agree with Yael, the waxer is very important... I get a brazilian done with landing strips and eyebrows every 6-9 weeks ( pending on schedule) and I won't lie to you it hurts..and I am not good with pain but in the end it lasts 15 minutes, so I find that if you breathe, try to stay relax and keep a casual conversation ( which is fabulous with everything just out there) it's over before you know it! By the time the eyebrows come, Im usually thrilled as I know it doesn't hurt as much. and yes the lips and bumcrack is also what hurt the most... what I would NEVER do again, underarms..OMG!

I have to say that my brows hurt more than the brazillian.I get my brows done every 2-3 weeks and brazillian should be every 6 but don't get much time these days with ds(he comes with me) lol. I'm going this week so I'll have to have a bit of a trim beforehand I think

I go fully hairless - legs & brows hurt more than a full brazillian (well for me anyway)

I just had my first wax in over a year 4 weeks ago. It hurt like hell but I have hardley any regrowth and look forward to my next appt in 2 weeks. IMO I found the bum crack the least painful and around the button the most painful. I leave a landing strip as well. I am not comfortable being totally bare down there but I keep the strip very short. I had my legs waxed at that appt as well but only the one time to get a head start so I can maintain. $90 every 6 weeks is a little out of my price range. When the growth of my hair is a little more regular which I am hoping it will do over time I plan on maintaining down there with my epilady although it seems to work better with coarser hair and not so well with fine blonde hairs that tend to be the regrowth. Shaving is just a PITA because it seems to be back the next day and it's thick and itchy but it is hard to stop when you have already started IYKWIM.

Oh yeah, how do you prepare for the pain? You don't I am actually really ticklish in my leg creases so when the wax gets put on I am giggling histarically(sp) until it gets ripped off

My problem is that my hairs are visable again within a week of being professionally waxed. I've been epilating for 7 years now and I would have expected the waxing to have lasted longer than 5-6 days. I can't afford to shell out that money every 10 days to stay hair-free! So DON'T believe the lies that it lasts for 6 weeks! The adverts LIE! Ah, hang on, that's not really a news flash, is it?

Is there any way to make waxing last longer?

That I agree with, it doesn't last 6 weeks but the regrowth is a lot thinner and sparser and I keep it shorter with the shaver and guard attachment part of my epilady so I don't wind up with super long hair which hurts like a bugger when it gets waxed. I wish there was a way to stop it growing back in between but hair does have different growth cycles so there will be some hair growing back at all times
