Hi everyone
I am looking for a body cream that i can use which has a nice scent to it. I don't like to wear perfume too much while holding a baby, but i still want to smell nice. Does anyone have any suggestions? I normally wear Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden, but i think that may be too strong.
Thanks in advance everyone
hi jazmum,
green tea is a pretty soft scent, you can get the body cream for that, if you like fruity the body shop body butters are really good, my fave is the brazil nut, sort of milk and honeyish.
Lulu - i'm a sahm, but not a very sporty one !!!lol. I prefer the citrusy and refreshing scents, but I guess i'm looking for something that won't irritate the new baby, as i plan on wearing her quite a bit.
Starrsky - I've used the Green tea Body Butter before - but do you know if they sell a lotion as well?
When my babies have been newborns I have reverted to a body lotion instead of perfume.....Jurlique do a very simple range of body lotions with in either rose or lavender, and the fragrance is essential oil so they smell, to me, very natural and fresh....
I just used the Stawberry scrub in the shower this morning, mmmmmmm.
go check out the Body Shop - there is such a great range of butters and lotions. Cassis Rose, is rosy but fresh. Neroli Jasmine is sooooo feminine and unusual, White Musk has been around forever with good reason, and the butters/lotions also come in Mango, Strawberry, Papaya, Brazil Nut, Passionfruit etc. The Shea range is something worth trying as it is not too overpowering, but divine. I bath the kids in Shea (and wash their hair in the strawberry!), and that helps support the Tungeteia Shea Butter Co-operative which is a collective of women from several villages in West Africa.
You can get different sizes and its not too cheap, not too exxy.
I used Dove unscented deoderant and Dove 'Fresh Touch' body lotion for about three or so months after D was born. Now I just use a scented deoderant and her baby powder!
I am pretty sure that they do sell a lotion in the range.
I wuld suggest like the other ladies to check out the body shop, they do have heaps of different scents, you could end up with a new fave!
Ohhhh my sis in law worked for the body shop a couple of years ago and use to get 50% discount for us and once she left the manager told her she could come back anytime and get 25% discount!! So you can guess where I get my body butters and washes from.
I agree with Lucy, anything with natural fragrance derived from essential oils is the way to go. Synthetic fragrances don't have the good properties that essential oils have either eg natural lavendar has a calming property, synthetic lavendar does nothing and the chemicals used to make the synthetic fragrance could even be harmful over a period of time.
I use the L'Occitane range. I have also tried the Miessence range but haven't tried a body cream of theirs yet... but if they are anything like their other products they will be lovely... very citrussy and fresh.
I don't like smelling like food, so I steer clear of those sorts of things. Try the Gucci II (Two) body lotion...the perfume is lovely as well. The body lotion's fragrance is light and long-lasting too. I'm actually wearing both today.
Ooooh, I know just the thing! Origins has a body oil spray and (hoping they still have it!) the Ginger one is just lovely - has orange, bergamot and cardamon as well as ginger. It's so fresh in summer and warming in winter. You spray it on where you want it straight after the shower, leaving your body a bit damp as you towel off (the oil spreads better when the skin is damp). It definitely leaves a scent and has essential oils to create that scent
You could make your own (might look at the ingredients list and do just that when I run out of mine!) by using some lovely carrier oils like macadamia nut and jojoba, and creating your own blend and putting it into a spray bottle. Lovely and nourishing after a bath or shower
Not sure how irritating it may be to a little one, but atm I use Bloom's vanilla sugar body cream. It's very rich and creamy, and smells quite sweet. I just think it's a gorgeous, refreshing, young and happy smell. Makes me happy anyway!
For more natural scents, can't go past shea butter from the Body Shop.
