Shimmery Blusher which do you recommend ???

Napolean have mosaic compacts, i think there's 3 "themes", the one i'm thinking is pinky/goldy/shimmery is called "Gleamer", so its a mosaic of the different colours which will mix as you apply it.

But personally i'm a huge fan of cream blush. The best one i've found is by Bloom, the shades suit my skin tone and just give a natural blushing effect. I use a foundation blush and gently pat it only on the apples of my cheeks. Some other brands do cream blushes with a shimmer as well.

OMG Tan that sounds like what i want (only thing about the cream blusher i'm worried won't glide on well on top of foundation or wear as well as a powder blusher.

CBG (that's for that) ... would you believe i was watching a video tutorial last night & what you suggested is what she said to do was place the blusher or bronzer than place the shimmery one on the highest part of the cheekbone

I tried a Loreal eyeshadow colour - Metallic Beige today as a shimmery pinkish blusher looked really good but not dramatic enough (be perfect for day wear).

Asked the cosmetic salesgirl in Priceline today she suggested best to get a Mineral blusher to get the shimmery/glow effect.

I've found the Bloom cream blush lasts just as long as my foundation. But i use a really good quality foundation (Laura Mercier liquid) its about $90 but it's so concentrated you hardly need any, a bottle lasts me ages. I apply the cream blush after the foundation, looks silly but do a huge smile and apply to the applies of your cheeks - they'll stick out when you smile Don't brush upwards like was the trend in the 80s I use Laura Mercier translucent powder over the top, just a light dusting, and yeah it will last me 12+ hours. Probably longer but i never sleep with make up on. Unless you sweat a lot your make up really shouldn't wear off any sooner than that...

hey Ginger i seriously don't think i have bought a blusher of any kind since the 90's as blusher kind of went out of fashion there (if that's the right choice of wording, ROFL) for sometime and i just never got back into wearing anything on my cheeks as i got older my cheeks have gotten rosy ... and foundation i have worn have never been heavy so therefore my natural cheek colour came through ... BUT now i'm getting older my face is losing alot of definition & sadly starting to sag under the jaw line which freaks me out but it's hereditary too as my Mum & older sis have it too ... so YEP now feel is the time the old cheeks are in need of a re-vamp, LOL ... Anyway, in the meantime for the past few years i have only user a bronzer as a blusher (not an actual proper blusher product, IYKWIM).

Tan ... i had a bad experience last year i bought what i call an expensive foundation ($68 from Clinique in Melb), was given wrong colour and ended up going to another Clinique counter in Ballarat telling the salelady the colour wasn't the same as what was put on me in Melb ... she then worked it out i was given the wrong one ... also i was recommended not to get a foundation for aged skin and the one i was recommended ended up being way to heavy ... i find usual mistake is that heavy foundations look shocking on woman older than 40 as they seep into wrinkles and the thickness doesn't seem to hide the average size cheek pores but emphasizes them, ans also the itty bitty facial hairs that once weren't noticed are now at this age with thicker foundations (OMG being in my 40's sux just don't feel the same about my looks like i use to, it's like a battle against looking old now, and not so much about looking lovely. Yeh, Tan i've been too scared so i stick with my cheap Rimmel (it gives me a more natural dewy look which can be hard to pull off for my age) BUT thanks Tan for the suggestion i hope to pluck the courage up one day to go buy again a better quality foundation

Yep i know exactly where you're coming from! Revlon Colour stay comes to mind when you mention heavy and sinking in to wrinkles! as for Clinique, not a fan of any of their products (apart from the Happy perfume ). The problem with make up counters is that there are no official standards as to the qualifications you need to be classified a make up artist. In fact some counters just employ retail staff and train them according to their brand so their information and techniques are limited and biased. In the industry someone can go out and do a basic Certificate 2 in Make up artistry which from memory is a 2 or 4 week course and call them selves a make up artist. The course i did was 6 months Full time and ITEC certified meaning my qualification is recognised world wide. I'm not talking myself up (just realised it sounds that way) but trying to explain why getting advice from make up counter staff can be really hit and miss! You never know if you're getting someone who's done no offical course, a certificat or an Advanced Diploma (which is what i did).

I'm a fan of Laura Mercier foundations because after using and working with so many other brands i've found it to be the best in terms of quality and versatility. When i meant it was concentrated i mean you only need a teeny weeny layer to give great coverage, so it won't clog your pores or sink in to your lines, if that makes sense? and i know because i have huge pores unfortunately and oily skin, so i use the oil free. I'm tempted to post a before and after pic of myself... but not really brave enough to publicly expose myself without make up!

I love Nars blush in Orgasm. It's a gorgeous shimmery peachy/pink. Have a look for it on eBay because you may not be able to find a Nars stockist in the Rat.

WOW, Tan now that's really opened my eyes up with your info there ... that makes sense too cause going back many years ago i was looking for a casual job during the daytime as i was working a permanent full-time night shift position ... anyhow, i applied for a sales position at Clinique at DJ's Melb with NO formal training other than i worked at Australis Cosmetics, and i got the job and i was thrown straight onto a Clinique counter not knowing a thing about their products, and i remember being so shocked that i was given absolutely no formal training whatsoever

... Sounds so similar to the Hairdressing industry, as i did a block of a 12mth course at Edward Beal, and OMG there were some dreadful hairdressers amongst these girl's yet you knew at the end of 12mths they were gonna pass after all they did pay $12grand for the course and off they go looking for work as a qualified hairdresser. My own SIL did a 12mth hairdressing course at TAFE ($10grand) ... and same thing they will be passed & must i mention she still cannot hold a pair of hairdressing scissors properly (a vital technique)
