I went for a period of about 6 months without using shampoo, I only used a natural conditioner. I have really curly, frizz prone hair naturally. I usually straighten it, but for this 6 month period I left it curly, and my hair was so much healthier curly, hardly any frizz, unlike when I would shampoo. It took a while to get used to, but felt amazing in the end. It never smelled, I'd give my scalp a really good massage. Only reason I went back was because I prefer my hair straight, and with straightening every day or two, it would get very lank very quickly without shampoo.
I would love to not wash my hair as often (every day - sometimes twice if I have 2 showers!) but if I don't it just feels and looks terrible and I get itchy if I DON"T wash it!!
Manage to now only wash my hair every 3-4 days. I find it is much better now. I used to really suffer from oily roots and dry ends. Kind of happened by accident. We were renoing the bathroom at the same time as having a new bub, I think at that time I was lucky to wash my hair once a week.
I have come across more people lately who just use water and now I remember my mum talking about only ever washing her hair in rain water as a child (she had really woolly hair).
I've been washing my hair every second day since I left high school. I do it every day if I have to leave the house every day.
My hair is horrible & oily. It will not go more than 12 hours without looking ew.
I'm thinking if it can't get from needing a wash from every day to every 2nd day, getting it to once a week isn't going to work...
