How cool is this - macaroni cheese sc recipie

I havent tried it, but might tomorrow. It looks easy peasy....

    Ingredients:
    3 cups raw macaroni
75 grams butter, cut into 1cm cubes
250g Kraft packaged cheddar cheese (you know the blue box!?)
    250g tasty cheese, grated
    1 tsp dijon mustard
    1 cup milk
    1/2 cup cream
    Salt and pepper to taste

    Method:
Boil water in a saucepan and add the macaroni, boil for 5 minutes ONLY and drain.

Pour into the bottom of the slow cooker, and add the rest of the ingredients, stir well, place the lid on and turn on low, after one hour, give it a stir and then heat for another hour.

Season with salt and pepper and serve! Good for leftovers too!

I've mac n cheese in the slow cooker before but the recipe I used I didn't need to precook anything first.

Just googled the Kraft cheese and I recognise it now, but I am still a bit confused ... do you break it up or grate it? Is it okay to add the block as a whole or is it a soft cheese that will just melt?

Prob not boomba, it's unique nothing like normal cheddar. It's more like a giant block of the slices.

If you have ever bought the kraft mac cheese deluxe the tin of cheese in that is similar to the blue block!!!

ooo yeah. That Kraft cheese smells awful. I used to put it on the shelves at the supermarket I worked at. Then again, I think any cheese you buy off a shelf (not in the fridge) is bound to taste rancid!

Boomba, I think it's generally near the vegemite and peanut butter in supermarkets.

Like cheese sticks? I think I might give it a miss. Would cream cheese work as a substitute do you think? I might give that a go instead ...

Yeah, i would grate, actually i just went back to the original source, and from her piccies, she grated.. i think regular cheese would melt in a instant and not last the hour !!! Reason they are suggesting cheddar. TBH, this cheese (blue box) is just divine...i make a mashed potato bake with it all infused in the mashed potatoes, and whilst is nice and fattening...its so delicious.

You find cheddar cheese usually in the aisle in the supermarket where they have Vegemite etc. (well they do in my local supermarkets!). It's different to tasty cheese, kind of rubbery and doesn't need to be stored in the fridge.

I'm guessing it would need to be grated for this recipe?
