I've mac n cheese in the slow cooker before but the recipe I used I didn't need to precook anything first.
I havent tried it, but might tomorrow. It looks easy peasy....
Ingredients:
3 cups raw macaroni
75 grams butter, cut into 1cm cubes
250g Kraft packaged cheddar cheese (you know the blue box!?)
250g tasty cheese, grated
1 tsp dijon mustard
1 cup milk
1/2 cup cream
Salt and pepper to taste
Method:
Boil water in a saucepan and add the macaroni, boil for 5 minutes ONLY and drain.
Pour into the bottom of the slow cooker, and add the rest of the ingredients, stir well, place the lid on and turn on low, after one hour, give it a stir and then heat for another hour.
Season with salt and pepper and serve! Good for leftovers too!

Oooh, thanks for sharing! Mac & cheese is a big favourite around here, I didn't know you could SC it! I'll have to give it a shot. Let us know how it goes!!
Yum...I only said to DH tonight we should give mac and cheese a go......sorry but whats the kraft cheese? We dont by cheese very often and when we do its grated?
Just googled the Kraft cheese and I recognise it now, but I am still a bit confused ... do you break it up or grate it? Is it okay to add the block as a whole or is it a soft cheese that will just melt?
ok so its block cheese...you could use any block cheese though hey?
Prob not boomba, it's unique nothing like normal cheddar. It's more like a giant block of the slices.
If you have ever bought the kraft mac cheese deluxe the tin of cheese in that is similar to the blue block!!!
You find cheddar cheese usually in the aisle in the supermarket where they have Vegemite etc. (well they do in my local supermarkets!). It's different to tasty cheese, kind of rubbery and doesn't need to be stored in the fridge.
I'm guessing it would need to be grated for this recipe?
ooooh ok so its processed cheese.........hmmmmmm will go hunting for it tomorrow...maybe i will give it a go with normal cheese too...it could be a disaster lol
ooo yeah. That Kraft cheese smells awful. I used to put it on the shelves at the supermarket I worked at. Then again, I think any cheese you buy off a shelf (not in the fridge) is bound to taste rancid!
Boomba, I think it's generally near the vegemite and peanut butter in supermarkets.

Like cheese sticks? I think I might give it a miss. Would cream cheese work as a substitute do you think? I might give that a go instead ...
Yeah, i would grate, actually i just went back to the original source, and from her piccies, she grated.. i think regular cheese would melt in a instant and not last the hour !!! Reason they are suggesting cheddar. TBH, this cheese (blue box) is just divine...i make a mashed potato bake with it all infused in the mashed potatoes, and whilst is nice and fattening...its so delicious.
Oh Im so trying this I love mac and cheese
I'm making this today only I will be halving the recipe again (lots to feed!) and putting the macaroni in raw and cooking it for longer. I'll let you all know how it comes out
Just remember to keep an eye on it as every SC cooks differently and you don't want the pasta to break down. Sounds great though! And as much as I am a food purist I do love a bit of Kraft Cheddar - shhhhh don't tell anyone![]()
