Will SC dinner cook in 6 hrs on high?

The pot is full - it's small lamb choppy pieces, small (soft) veggies all in a tomato base. Is 6 hours on high going to be long enough?

Probably...did you brown off the lamb first?

Yep, lamb browned first. Always worry about the onion, it seems to turn out "hard" in the SC so I want it to be good and cooked, kwim?

yeah, 6hrs is a long time in mine too on high... i can usually almost cut it in half to 4hrs on high. Doesn't come out as nice as 8hrs on low tho.

Well I stirred and peeked and it still wasn't ready. Had to put it in the oven to finish it off. Not sure, it could be because the pot was packed completely full. I've been combing the SC threads and it sounds like mine doesn't cook as hot as others, the onion *always* stays hard instead of cooking down soft, and there's no chance of anything cooking so long it sticks to the base, kwim?

Not sure if i should persevere with this SC (and cook the onions before I start) or if I should try another SC. My friend says she *always* micro's her potatoes before she starts because they never cook soft either. Am I expecting too much?

i would have thrown mine out if it was performing like yours!!!
I can put raw anything in there and it is done after 4 hours on high. Maybe yours is faulty? After 6 hours on high my potatoes would be all but dissolved.....

I think you should buy a new one too. I never have any issues with mine sticking or not cooking food through. I never brown hte meat or par cook potato. I have even put frozen meat in mine and it's cooked it beautifully.

My SC is just a Big W cheapie too. I got it for $21 because it was 'floor stock, it had no box or instructions.

I think it might be getting old and tired, I don't remember having onion issues years ago...Maybe I should borrow someone else's and test it out first.

    I second that.
4-5 hours on high but 8 on low always seems to come out nicer.

Do you have to factor in a longer cooking time if the SC is full to the brim?
