    Tubal ligation..not what is seems

Ive just been tramping around (as one does lol) and found this interesting bit of info

A tubal ligation is approximately 99% effective in the first year following the procedure. In the following years the effectiveness may be reduced slightly since the fallopian tubes can, in some cases, reform or reconnect which can cause unwanted pregnancy. Method failure is difficult to detect, except by subsequent pregnancy, unlike with vasectomy or IUD. If pregnancy does occur it carries a 33% chance of being an ectopic pregnancy

Scarey isnt it.....as doc's tell you that you cant fall pg with it done. I was told i had a 1 in 500 chanch but having them rejoin

Makes me want to send Jed to get knacked now

I feel pg 3 times with my tubes clamped before I had my last 2 and quiet obviously had a successful reversal....when I had Mateauz I asked for part of my tube to be removed. I was told there was a 1 in 500 chanch of falling pg anyway. I didnt think of it at the time but I would have been quiet swollen due to being pg at the time and wonder if it makes a TL more defective??

Proof is in the pud I supppose

yeh its an interesting side of the topic..

1 in 500 is still a good chance especially if your are fertile to begin with,

I think it depends on how you get them done.. My were cut and burnt or tied?.. ( I am 99% sure they were anyways)

I have read about the higher ectopic pg though and that was my biggest concern but when we weighed it all up I was happy enough to get fixed myself

I have read that getting it done during the C/s can make it less effective but I asked numerous Drs and nurses before I got it done and none of them had heard if it..

Maz it's a bit of a worry hun! The body works in mysterious ways though

We're going through our own little crisis ATM so I'm not sure sending your DH off for the snip JIC will prevent another addition to the family either!
