vasectomy - shave or wax before surgery?

My hubby had the procedure a week and a half ago and shaved down there. He hasn't said anything about the hair growing back, he is complaining about the stitches being itchy!

It cost $500 via private practice and we got approx $160 back from Medicare

DH was told not to shave at all before op as they prefer to do it to reduce the risk of their being any skin irritation in the area they need to work on. I think theory being they do it then and there so no chance for skin to get irritated.

How about trimming very close with scissors, at least for most of the area? Less chance of issues with regrowth

I finally got around to reading those reviews - not a good idea while I'm at work, my face is a mess from laughing and crying! I had to forward it to DH, that's much worse than what he went through!

I picked a stupid moment too - in the car, parked out in front of a chemist, with my partner looking at me like I was a big, massive weirdo. I was crying, my stomach and face hurt and I could not speak! Great one!!!!

So I'm ultimately leaving it up to DH to decide.

I've booked him in to have a wax on Thursday night (cleared it with the surgery where he's having the vasectomy, although the nurse suggested I was being a little, um ... "unkind" to suggest he have a wax. (Quote) A male's undercarriage is rather loose and floppy, therefore a wax will hurt more than when a female has it done (unquote).

Still trying to dredge up sympathy, but it's very hard to do!!!

And in case he chickens out of the wax, I brought him some Nads "sensitive" hair remover. Yes, even after reading all the hilariously ouchy reviews, I bought it. It will have to be used with care and I have a mental image of his crown jewels being gladwrapped beforehand to avoid any of the gel accidentally making contact

AndiE if he uses the cream you have to let us know what happens! And I laughed at the quote about the floppy undercarriage That's why they pull it tight! I can just imagine them stretching it out to wax
