I don't know what is in UK, but have also used butternut snaps here to make similar cake, although I think they are Arnott's too, so that probably doesn't help at all.
If you want a bit of extravagance, add bailey's to the cream.

I think you could use lots of different biscuits probably - as long as they turn 'cakey' when wet they will work
