Chocolate Caramel Slice - Soo yummy!

This recipe is out of our kinder recipe book. It is very scrummy and probably wont last very long...

1 packet vanilla cake mix (I use homebrand/no name)
    1 tin sweetened condensed milk
    3/4 cup shredded coconut
    125g butter, melted
    100g approx nestle chocolate melts

    Pre-heat oven to 180 degreesC
Combine cake mix with melted butter. Press into lined slice tin.
Bake for 15-20 mins. Remove from oven.
Whilst still hot, place chocolate melts evenly over slice base. Sprinkle desired amount of coconut then pour tin of condensed milk evenly over top.
Return to oven for approx 15 mins, until golden and bubbly.
Allow to cool then refridgerate until set.
    Cut into squares.

You can use chocolate cake mix for a more chocolatey slice.
You can also use a mixture of white and milk choc melts.

    ENJOY!

Making caramel from condensed milk is hard work especially in the short amount of time they say to boil! I made caramel for a choc caramel tart and after trial n error best way to make real caramel is put a whole can of unopened condensed milk in simmer water and simmer for a couple of hours but have the make sure you keep topping up water in the pan so it starts to the level top of the can. But this makes it a time consuming task but the end result is beautiful firm caramel!
