I succumbed to advertising! Cake Pops anyone??

    Yep.

I hang my head in shame.

I succumbed to the advertising of Cake Pops!

Just bought the Baking Pan and Accessories from that Spot with the Light.

    Anyone else sucked in?

They just look like soooooo much FUN!

0o0o0oh anyone have some great ideas to decorate etc with them??

I shall be going simple to start with....Chocolate and Vanilla balls...and decorate with melted chocolate and sprinkles of some sort...

I did some a couple of weeks ago as a trial run for DD1's birthday. They were really cool looking but pretty fiddly and time consuming given all the in and out of the fridge/freezer to set things. I'm hoping they're not the new thing to take over from cupcakes cos they're just way too much work to whip up a batch of 30 or so for the kindy class!

We made chocolate balls, covered in melted chocolate and then rolled them in fairy dust. The girls loved them.

    Have fun

I saw it in Target the other day and I was really tempted to get it but didn't have the spare $$ at the time.

I was going to buy that kit too but haven't bothered. Can make them without it anyway.

They're not hard as such Shanti - just a whole lot more time consuming than whacking some cupcakes in the oven. They really are gorgeous, and very yum, but I think when I made them I was looking down the barrel of the 7 birthday cakes/cupcake combinations I had to make over the next week or so with the girls' birthdays so got a bit disillusioned by them! I did the Taste ones and they were good.

Didn't have any sort of kit either - what's in the kit?

hmmm time to go a googling!

In the kit Lulu is 2 trays, 18 re-usable sticks, and um ... I think that was it.

    Oh, and instructions and tips!

I bought it because I am throwing my sister a baby shower in August, and then it is Miss H and Miss Z's birthdays in October....so thought that gives me plenty of time to perfect the making of them!
I always do cupcakes! so wanted to try something a lil different...

I have just had 2 glasses of wine, so there will be no cake pop ball thingie making tonight...nope...not now

Now Nikky. Was your last baking effort that you posted photos of - was that with or without a glass or 2 of wine assist? You never know. Your creative side could really come out!!

Seriously though, have you seen the recipe where you can make little flowers out of them? Its very cute and would be lovely for little girls - DD1 loved them. It was in I think a Good Taste magazine so you might be able to google it. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll see if I can scan it and email it to you.

My cousin makes and sells them - she does a red velvet ball with a chocolate fondant style icing - they are devine!
