Food colouring and chocolate - help!!

I have some white chocolate and I want to make some pink for decoration but I only have liquid food colouring and I doubt that any of the local shops have powdered colours.

Is there any way I can do it? Or should I just resign myself to no pink chocolate?

If I put a couple of skittles in it for a stir or two would that work? Or is it a really stupid idea? I wouldn't want them to melt and flavour it or destroy the texture.

Ok there's a few tricks.... Practice to see which one works because white chocolate is the HARDEST chocolate to work with believe it or not.

First is using vegetable oil create a coloured oil. Secondly Add the food colouring to a Tablespoon of cream and do it that way (this way works for me best).

It can be done... don't fret!

    ETA: Skittles idea is awesome...

I use wilton red candy melts. I just add a few buttons to the melted white chocolate, until I get the desired colour. Otherwise you could use the pink candy melts instead of the white chocolate and red candy mix, but you won't get the white chocolate taste. You can get the candy melts at House (or Home) or at Homewares direct. Otherwise you can get them at cake decorating stores, but I'm sure you don't want to start looking for them now. Either way, you need to have a oil based or oil-solvent food colouring, not a water based or water-solvent one, otherwise your chocolate won't set!! Good luck

Candy melts are good but exxy.

Onyx is saying however, that at the moment in her house, she only has liquid vegetable food dye so wants to make do with that

Mmhh that makes it more difficult of course. Def try what Rouge said - sounds like a good plan. Make a little test batch and see if it sets. Otherwise try the skittles! Or even red M&Ms?!? Just pull em out before they melt! Hehe Experimenting is half the fun of baking!
