Oh I've seen videos of the reveal on YouTube!!! How cool... what a great idea.
I'd be more inclined to make a cake/s - that way you can ice all the way down, so when it's cut, everyone can see the colour of the cake?
We find our the genders of these little ones, two days before Christmas : On Christmas Day I would like to make cup cakes and have pink or blue inside them to let our family know what we are having
What kind of cup cakes could I make ?
Do I just buy pink and or blue food colouring and add it to a cupcake mix ?
I have a few days up my sleeve before Christmas Day : So I am not strapped for time
Thanks![]()

How about just plain vanilla cupcakes? Maybe tint half the batter with pink/blue, and do a marble effect...
depending where you are you i think spotlight have those different coloured chocolates dots- you could put a blue or pink chocolate inside each cupcake so when they cook the melt and go gooey and when people bit into them the see the colour?
Plain butter cake mix (packet fine) and tint with food colouring
There is a delish recipe for Red Velvet Cake here somewhere ... you can use any colour food dye really but the taste is SO GOOD. Silver patty pans and a white buttercream icing ...... super yummo!
I would do just a plain cake mixture. Seperate 1/3 off into a bowl and add your colouring. Then put the plain mixture into your cupcake tins, put a dollop of the coloured mixture in the middle and more plain on the top. That way they will have to really bite into it to find out the colour!
id to a plain cup cake and fill it wth the approriate cloloured icing, with a white icing ontop, if u use coloured cakes, you'll end up giving it away before theyve been bitten into
You could cook a marshmallow or raspberry into the centre of a vanilla cupcake if its a girla blueberry for a boy.
Thank you lovelies for your replies, I had a little look on line as well, and I found a woman that had them in her blog.
She dyed the cream cheese icing and put it inside cooked cupcakes after she had carefully cut a piece out, then covered them with icing and little baby shower decorations
Another suggestion was chocolate mud cup cakes with the same inside and an icing ? On the top
I will post a pic when we decide which ones
So thanks girls your ideas are spot on
I have been wanting to do a gender reveal cake for a while, but none of my regular customers are pregnant or planning on being any time soonYou could colour the batter, but you would need to buy coloured cupcake wrappers so you dont give the game away before they bite into them. As far as spotlight...I have only found the different coloured candy melts, not actual chocolate...might have to go and investigate this one
Hey Bengal, just wanted to check in and see if you found out the sex of the babies and how the cakes went??
