cake tin help please respond ASAP need to make cake 10/09/11

ok question am using the buttercake recipe out of the womans weekly bday cake books am using a 26 cm spring form tin how many batches should I Imake I want a decent high cake plus some for cupcakes does that make sense would 4 quantities be enough or should I go 5

Personally I would make 5 - having some leftover isn't as bad as not having enough IMO!

It is sometimes better to make multiple batches rather than putting it all in one mixer! The cakes usually turn out fluffier/lighter if you split it into a few batches, simply because there is gonna be more space in the bowl to aerate (sp?) the dough properly. DTMS?

I find that the kitchenaid does 2 to 3 times the recipe usually before its up around the top of the paddle - i would have thought five could be pushing the kenwoods capacity unless the bowl is a litre or two bigger

In theory ok, but you gonna lose lots of air out of the dough, so it may not rise as well/ be as fluffy. It's best to bake straight after mixing (unless it's a yeast dough - then the more time the better). Maybe bake it tonight and decorate tomorrow? Sorry, I'm not much help.

OMG why did I decide to be so ambitious and use a tin I just bought LOL, finally after making 5 batches of cake mix did it 2 + 3 lote then working out how to divide so the colors were ok you can't just divide in 6 the base color needs to be more than the top color got the quantities right I think, then baking which took forever and the top has cracked a bit but wont matter will be covered in icining so no one will see managed to get 15 cupcakes as well which look fantastic Kids did snavle one so 14 cupcakes for party...

except now its been raining on and off all day can't get a hold of Jase to find out what he wants to do I do now have a back up plan a local hall but thats $80 but thats no biggie as long as Jase is ok with it... but do I say ok now and wake up to sunshine tomorrow or do I wait till the morning which the lady is fine with but that means I need to run roudn and clean this arvie LOL....dramas dramas dramas.......

oh and still have to do sausage rolls have barely fed kids today cause have been mixing and stressing so much
