Help with a pudding... don't like dates, is there an alternative?

Decided to make the pudding which looked quicker but if anyone tries that one maybe a 2L square dish would be better. I have mine in a 1.5L and the sauce ended up spilling over in the beginning and now I have a sticky burnt caramel mess on the bottom of my oven!!!! Bugger! It's almost ready though, and looking good!!!!!!

Banana pudding with butterscotch or caramel sauce is yummo - don't have a recipe but our local cafe used to do them and they were gorgeous. Pretty full-on though!
