Question Help with a pudding... don't like dates, is there an alternative?

    Craving time!

I want a pudding with butterscotch or caramel sauce. I don't care which one, I just want one of them!

SO all the recipies I find are sticky date puddings, but I'm difficult and don't like dates. Do you need them? Can I just leave the dates out?

Any other alternatives? I was thinking carrots, because carrot cake and caramel go well, except I forgot to buy carrots (and I've been out twice today... once for grocery shopping, and another time to pick up all the things I forgot to get the first time!). So not really interested in going out AGAIN because I forgot something else

    Share your wisdom!!!!

try a steamed golden syrup pudding, just google it, carrot cake with icing heated up would also be yum as its quiet moist! i loooovvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee carrot cake

heres one for golden syrup dumplings!

    Ingredients (serves 4)
    150g (1 cup) self-raising flour
    60g unsalted butter, cubed
    1 egg
    1-2 tbs milk, to beat
    Thick cream, to serve
    Syrup
    30g butter
    220g (1 cup) caster sugar
    4 tbs golden syrup
    1 small lemon, juiced
    Method
Sift flour into a bowl, then rub in butter until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Beat egg with a little milk and pour into flour mixture. Combine to form a dough, then divide into small balls.
To make the syrup, combine the ingredients together with 1 cup of water in a pan and bring to the boil over medium heat. Carefully add dough balls to syrup and boil for 20 minutes. Serve with syrup and cream.

Decided to make the pudding which looked quicker but if anyone tries that one maybe a 2L square dish would be better. I have mine in a 1.5L and the sauce ended up spilling over in the beginning and now I have a sticky burnt caramel mess on the bottom of my oven!!!! Bugger! It's almost ready though, and looking good!!!!!!
