Options for "sweet treats" thats might be a little healthier....
Hi All,
Since being pregnant I have been a sugar fiend .... (was never all that fussed about it prior) and am chowing down choc and ice cream like it's going out of style.
Does anyone have some recipes for cake/ muffins/ slice etc that will still satisfy my sweet tooth but would be a little healthier??
there was a thread a couple of days ago about hiding veg in muffins - might be able to do something like that - would still be cake-ish food, but healthier
i have been loving fruit juice icy poles - a bit of sweetness, withouth too much sugar!
When my kids want something sweet but I want them to have something healthy I often cut up a banana into small circles then toss them in coconut. They eat them with a small fork and consider it a 'treat'.
So I need to trick myself into thinking I am eating sweets
i like it!!!!
I will definately try all the suggestions girls, i think the first step is just not buying it in the first place. if it's not in the house i can't eat it!!!
Fruit smoothies are yum and were my fav when pg - banana, milk, yoghurt with a drizzle of honey.
Also apple crumble - make the crumble with wholemeal flour, coconut, oats and serve with low fat custard. Can also add a handful of berries for extra sweetness.
What about making your own fruit juice ice blocks?
My neices used to eat frozen yoghurt... I mean literally they would buy yoghurt tubs and freeze them! You could give it a go - I've no idea if it's any good!
