    Please help - cake emergency!!!!

So DH has baked me a cake for my bday tomorrow! He bought a packet mix from a cake shop - added the eggs and milk, beat it up, in the pan, in the oven for the time it said.

Pulled it out, I skewered it to check, skewer came out clean except for a tiny smidge of wet on the very tip. Decided it was ok, left it to cool for about 40mins in the tin. Flipped onto a rack, took the tin off, looking really good, flipped it back over, DH patted the top and said to me "Looks good huh!" then said "What's that?" and we noticed a brown cake-like looking substance oozing out of the bottom!

Sure enough - the cake had not cooked and had broken out of the bottom!!!!

We shoved it back in it's tin and stuck it back in the oven... Is it going to be ok?

It kinda smells like it's burning now...

    Have we stuffed it up?

For sure. Fail cake can easily be made into a winning trifle, pudding etc. My fave is fail cake with a choc sauce and cream or ice-cream...can you tell I've messed up a fair few cakes?

Ice cream. Ice cream will definitely help it. It is still in the oven... Hmm...

Thought i would put a really easy and quick cake recipe here for you so maybe you dont have to rush out to the shops first thing.
It s basic and you just stick it all in the one bowl and mix then bake -

    1 1/2 cups self-raising flour
    1 cup sugar
    125g butter (softened)
    2 eggs (at room temperature)
    1/2 cup milk

Put everything in a mixing bowl and mix on low speed till combined
Place in greased pan and bake at 180 degree c
Cook cake until a skewer pierced into the cake comes out clean, (approx. 45mins to 1 hour)
If you want it choclate flavoured - put in about 3 tbs of cocoa

    happy birthday
