My nose piercing is hardly noticable anymore and has closed over. However, I took it out about 14 years ago! The extra holes in my ears have never fully closed over though.

I don't have a hole anymore from my belly piercing but I do have a scar still that looks nasty as my belly grows during pregnancy So although the piercing isn't necessarily permanent some of the side effects can be.
