Did your partner want to cut the umbilical cord?

DH was ambivelant but the nurses told him to - he was sorta suprised by the elasticity of it.

When we discussed it, DH didn't want to. At DD1's birth he didn't have a choice, the Dr did it. For DD2 DH did cut it and was quite happy that he did.

Dp had a go at the first birth but was weirded out by the texture and let my sister do it!

Next time he let the doula do it!

No biggie really, I think its more to help the dads feel included. Most of them feel plenty included once they have been abused my their labouring partners

Simon cut it both times aswell as watched the birth!

He wants to film it if its a girl this time!

DH said awww no way and I kept telling him he should.

On the day he actually did (well trimmed it as cs birth) and he was sooooooooooooooo excited and not at all groused out!!!!!!!!!

We never discussed it but DP did it and is glad he did. I guess that was his physical part of labour in his eyes.

DH cut Aidens. He said it was a bit tougher then expected.. Quote " it was a grissily son of a b....." (mind you, he said that just now, and not at the birth, cause, that would be slightly untimely )

My DH was adamant he wouldn't (he didn't even really want to be there - he is grossed out really easily) but at the time he was so excited he forgot and just did as he was told lol. He's proud he did now.

My DH never wanted to cut the cord for any of ours. I always asked him just to be sure, and he always said no. It just wasn't something he wanted to do and I wasn't fussed either way. It didn't make the experience of becomming parents for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th time any less special/significant for not having done it either.
