Mine took about 10 minutes![]()
I am having a homebirth and am trying to decide whether or not to have a natural or a managed third stage. I think the decision will come down to how long the third stage looks like taking, although I'm well aware of the benefits of physiological 3rd stage. I'm not sure I wanna hang out with a cord poing out of me for 5 hours iykwim
What I want to know is how long your unmanaged third stage went for, or if you waited and the placenta wasn't forthcoming when did you chose the sinto?
Thanx![]()
Mine took about 10 minutes![]()
I'd be ok with that![]()
Mine were all quite forth coming as well... However, if you are having a birthing tub it's nice being in that as your birth your placenta as well... Feeding your baby & that lovely skin to skin really helps...
Good luck!![]()
Hi forthontheway!
I had a physiological 3rd stage and mine took 58 minutes, never even knew the cord was hanging out, to be honest. I was told by my midwives that 'they' tend to not go much longer than that without intervening but that could just be the hospital system.
Good luck and wishing yo a beautiful and amazing homebirth!
i think mine was 7 minutes, i was very surprised it was so quick
I"m happy with all those times! I could go an hour, or 7 mins happilyYou're right, maybe I won't notice it coz I'll be baby gazing!
My mw is happy to leave it for 24hrs but there's no way I could be bothered with that I don' think, however I'm really keen on having an unhindered entire birth. From what I've read, without managment the average length of third stage is 20min.
I had 2 unmanaged 3rd stages and both were only a few mins. Sorry, I can't give you an actual time.
Mine was about 10 minutes with my 2nd labour, my first labour was a managed 3rd stage.
I had physiological with DD3 and it was quicker than the managed I had with DD1 and DD2. My physiological was only 5 minutes.
The last homebirth I attended it was 1hour and 5 mins. It can vary from a few mins to a few hours. If your placenta stays in there for longer that you want you don’t need to have synto. Often a gentle pull on the cord brings the placenta out
