    Full anesthesia for endometrial biopsy?

    Hi everyone,

I had two miscarriages at week 5 and 3. I had the blood test one month ago which shows that I have strong antibotic in my body to stop the embryo to grow the root on the placenta. My doctor asked me to do the endometrial biopsy with full anesthesia for $900. Did anyone have similar experience? Is the full anesthesia necessary? I am really scared. If the blood test result already shows something, can they just give me the treatment? I am really comfused.

    Please help me
    Many thanks

    Hi Timtam,
I am really sorry for your loss. I had an endometrial biopsy with just local anesthesia, I think they gave me the same thing your dentist gives you to numb you. Only in a different area than the dentist, of course. It still hurt like h***, worse than the D&C, but did not last that long, just a few minutes. Maybe your doctor wants to spare you the pain. If you are nervous about the general anesthesia, ask the doctor if he will do it with local. I said it hurt a lot, but maybe I just do not take pain very well. Oh, I live in the US, so I do not know if the guidelines for such things are different here, and that is why I just had the local anesthesia?
