Hi all i went to see my specialist today to discuss our fertiltiy. we have currently lost our second baby in september 09 it was the most painful thing. But now im ready to try again, we went in there with ithe information i got off the internet and the different tests they can do. She suggested taking Clomid tablets and i was wondering who have been on this and what the side affects are? If anyone can give me some advise or just info on this that would be great.
Thanks, good luck to you all!!!
Clomid assists with creating a favourable environ for ovulation. Generally it's taken in the follicular phase of your cycle. It helps by increasing the hormone production. Women who have a short luteal phase or who have a low progesterone level often find this really helps. There is an increased chance of a multiple birth as the drug stimulates follicles. It can also have a similar reaction to PMS. Bloating, emotional changes, skin erruptions. I had quite marked bloating and pain due to the ovarian stimulation. I used it with good effect - though I required 150mgs before I conceived my last baby.
This drug doesn't address the issues of miscarriage (unless they were very early losses due to an insufficient luteal phase)... Have you had any tests to address the reasons for your miscarriages?
I hope it works for you & that you soon have a sticky little one.
Hi, firstly I am so sorry for your losses. I know the pain of losing my first.
I took clomid and was lucky it worked for me 1st time. It made me ovulate where before I hadnt ovulated for months - thereby in creasing my chances of conceiving again. I have PCOS and endometriosis so had quite a bit against me! I think it is a wonder drug. I was on 50mgs. It made me have hot flushes and it was incredibly painful when I did ovulate.
They do blood tests to check if you have ovulated or not, if not, then they can up the dosage.
Has your specialist said why you would be on clomid?
Big hugs hun, I wish you all the best on your journey xox
Hi, Yeah i did tests yesterday she did a Genetic Test for my husband an me, progesterone, infections and some other ones. She told me i would be on 2 tablets of clomid a day. not sure what the dosage is i have not picked up my script. when i m/c both of mine they were in the early stages about 5-6 weeks. I just hope i am doing everything i can do try make my next pregnancy a long and healthy one.
