Hi everyone, for those of you who have had your progesterone levels tested do you remember what they should be after you ovulate and what they should be when you are pregnant? I'm thinking of making an appointment to get mine tested this week to see if that could be the reason for my 2 miscarriages and to prevent another one, but I know many GP's just look at the 'acceptable range' and even if your on the lower side still think it's still ok, so I wouldn't mind hearing what your dr's told you. Thanks
HI Cherished,
this is my first post back on the boards after a break.
I had mine tested after my m/c and it was found to be low - it was 7.1nmol/L (this was on day of ovulation - I had other ones taken at other times throughout my cycle, but these are the only ones I have here with me) and should have been between 9-12 (I think, I am looking at my blood tests and trying to decipher my drs writing right now LOL).
the "comment" at the bottom of the tests says it should be-
progesterone: follicular phase 0.1- 4.3
luteal phase 5.8 - 96.0
mid-luteal 9.2-117
post-menapausal 0.0-2.7
This was the same blood tests that they first found my thyroid problem, and low thyroid means low reproductive hormones, particularly progesterone, so I think it is worth asking your dr about.
good luck!

You need to be careful when talking about progesterone levels - US websites quote levels in different units to what are used in Australia. I think to convert from US units to ours you multiply by approx 3, but I tend to get confused so you may want to check that... Also, I've not heard of progesterone being tested at ovulation - normally it's done at 7dpo.
I've had mine tested twice during natural cycles. One of them was ~46 @7dpo. The second was last Friday and my levels was 31.6, but I'm not sure whether I was 4dpo, 5dpo or 7dpo since my chart is just weird this cycle. I think it was most likely 4dpo or 5dpo, so still early and probably not at it's peak at that time. But, regardless, my FS was happy with it (he just said "even better" when I said it may have been earlier than 7dpo).
When I was pg, my progesterone levels were in the 20's for the first two betas (21 and 26 respectively) and dropped to 5 for the third beta (when my hcg also dropped).
Thanks girls and welcome back Milly I don't post too much in the miscarriage thread now, I'm mainly hanging out over in the ttc 12th month thread... Yep it's been that long already
I've found out that after ovulation the progesterone level should be around 20+ and when pg around 30+... So I will confirm that with the dr (if he knows what he is talking about)
juniper does your dr also test your HCG levels, like from about 7DPO to see if you are pregnant too! It is kinda like cheating the tww but hey the sooner you get a BFP the better right I will be 7DPO on Wed when I have my appointment and was going to ask the Dr to test for pregnancy too.
My Dr won't test hcg until AF is due. Since implantation typically starts between 7-10dpo chances are a test at 7dpo wouldn't pick up anything. I'd probably completely freak out if I had a positive b/t at 7dpo because I'd expect it to mean a tubal pg unless the O date was wrong...
If you look at my chart from August/September 09 you can see the betas were at 16dpo and 20dpo (and the third at 24dpo, which isn't marked). Sorry if I misled you by not explaining that better.
