    Question Ready to TTC

FINALLY! It's been over 2 years since my mc. Unplanned but not unwanted, at least by me anyway.

DP has suddenly said he is ready now...... and I find my excitement turning to fear. Can I really do this?

Today I started my prenatals and am on my last pack of pills this month. I have one more, but think I will stop at the end of this pack.

Any suggestions to get myself into baby making shape?? What have you all done to prepare for pg? Also, I would like to wait until I get a BFP before I tell my boss of my plans to leave the workforce for up to a year. That's not rude, is it? When I know what my plans are..... I feel a little shifty not saying something sooner. What are my rights and what reactions did you get? Btw I am 25, DP is 32.

Thanks in advance, I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions over the coming months.

Definately don't mention anything to your boss until you know you are pg and then you can even wait until you are 12 weeks before saying anything. You are under no obligation to inform your workplace that you intend TTC - it has nothing to do with them until you are actually pg. Get enough rest, exercise, eat correctly and enjoy DTD as often as you can. Good luck and I look forward to seeing a BFP soon.

    Hey!!

    Good Luck TTC

    A few tips....

    - eat healthy
    - get regular exercise
    - chart your ovulation through FF (Fertility friend)
    - keep in mind it can still take a couple months for the pill to be out of your system..

No, I wouldnt tell your boss. You could not fall pregnant straight away and you dont want him discriminating you etc before your pregnant. As Mrs H said, it is none of their business you are TTC and they wont need to know until you are pregnant. It depends on the type of work you do, if its heavy lifting etc its good to tell them at the start of the pregnancy IYKWIM

Once again, good luck hun and I hope you get your BFP soon xo

Thanks for the advice, Miss H and MummaMia.
I do agree I shouldn't say anything until I'm actually pg.... however due to my hours I will need to be absent for a few hours here and there to have bloodtests, ultrasounds etc. I really feel my boss has the right to know why I'm demanding random time off..... but I guess that's just tough for them. I will make up a good cover story.

I would hate to mc again and have to spring it on him without mentioning I was even pg. Of course tho, at times they have used my mc against me, especially when I complained about a nasty woman I work with harrassing me. Apparently I had reduced coping skills (according to my boss) because of my mc. I was irritated as the two things are completely unrelated and years apart!........... but they didn't see it that way. I would have complained mc or no mc.... but they're men and I'm just a hysterical woman. Bah.

I think I will keep it to myself, better safe than sorry. I don't think they deserve extra warning after the way they've already discriminated against me during and after a failed pg.

It's sad that in this day and age we are facing these kinds of problems at work. I can't be everywhere and do everything. Sorry, large corporation for wanting a family!

    Rant over! Lol

Thanks again for the advice, ladies. So far it looks like I'm doing things 'right'.

You don't need to make up a cover story at all. I had the same thing when I had to go to the hospital for IUI and had alot of tests etc. I said it was for medical reasons which was the absolute truth. If they ask you what you say it's personal.

    Hi Miss H

Thanks for the advice once again. I'll say I have an appointment and leave it at that. He probably won't ask, he's not the type to pry.

I'll know what to do when the time comes, I think.

    Hello

congratulations on your decision to try to conceive. If you are not currently taking one, a folic acid supplement is a good idea pre conception. Also an iodine supplement, or switch to iodine enriched salt to make sure you have enough in your diet. Eat healthily, exercise (but avoid anything that gets your adrenaline pumping, like boxing or body combat) and enjoy lots of sex. Sometimes it is all too easy to think of sex in a purely functionary manner when trying to conceive, make sure you remember to have fun and enjoy yourself too.

    Good luck

    Thanks traveller,

I'm taking folic acid like a good girl, eating well... but struggling to exercise. Lol... working on that part!

    Thanks for your thoughts.
