Return of Period after Natural Late Miscarriage

With each of my miscarriages, I've had d&c done.

This time it was a completely natural birth.

Everything was complete and intact and my postnatal bleeding has been fairly light.

Now I'm wondering when my period will come back and return to normal. I'd ideally like to start trying again in February.

Has anyone got any similar stories or experiences to share?

I realise every woman is different and I can't remember what happened last time, but it'd still be nice to have an idea I guess.

    Appreciations in advance

After DS2 was born sleeping, it took 6 weeks for AF to come back. With DS1, it was 13 weeks but that may have been due to a later gestation and/or the pill I took to stop lactation.

For me, trying again depends on both emotional readiness as well as physical readiness, which is different for everyone.

    Thanks hun.

My bleeding since Reid's birth has generally been much ligheter than I expected. Now its stopping and starting. There's lots of blood stained mucous at the end of the day but lastnight I even notied a brown tinge to it. So I'm hoping that its starting to finish.

I've given myself until February so that my body has time to work itself out and so that I have time emotionally and physically to be right for another baby. If not Feb than April. All depending on how quick we concieve also I guess.

    Thanks again hun

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I'm so sorry to hear of your losses. We lost our son 3.5 weeks ago (I was 19 weeks along) to Triploidy.
The most frustrating thing at this point is having NO idea what is going on with my body. I got my GP to order a hcg test on Friday so hopefully we'll have the results on Monday, but the doctor said to expect it to be very low/back to pre-pregnancy level, considering I've been getting negative pregnancy tests for almost a week now.

My question is, has anybody "done" anything to try to encourage a regular cycle? At the moment i'm drinking 3 cups of raspberry leaf tea a day, with the ocassional peppermint tea bag and nettle tea bag in it as well, I'm taking Vitex, Dong Quai, Vitamin b-6, B-complex, Folic Acid, prenatal vitamin, zinc and calcium. So I think I'm doing everything shy of going outside and praying to the gods that I either start a period or get a positive OPK.

I had bleeding (normal discharge, I had what I guess you would call a C section) for about 2 weeks, then tapered off, and had nothing at all for about 5 days, then yesterday I had bright red bleeding, very lightly and got so excited thinking it was AF, but then absolutely nothing today... Has anyone had this?

Does anybody else feel the same? This frustration of wanting SOMETHING to happen, and if so, have you done anything that you think is helping/may have helped?

    THanks for any help

P.S The lady above, Sara, I'm so sorry for your extremely recently loss- you will be in our family's thoughts and prayers and hope your emotional and physical recovery is a gentle one, take care

    Hi there,

I'm so sorry I didn't see your reply earlier...my apologies.

I'm sorry to hear of your Son's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

As for the cycle issues, I havent done anything thus far to try and regulate my cycle. Just trying to let my body catch up with itself and we'll go from there.

My bleeding was doing what you described also. I was told that the bleeding can slow right down then one day you might have a busy day, moving around etc and the activity will increase the blood flow. I found this to be accurate for myself. Could it be for you also?

Its very frustrating. I'm usually very in touch with my body and its hard not knowing when things are going to return to normal.

Sorry again for the late reply.

    Thinking of you!

Thought I should update my own thread...

I've just got my first period since having DS. It came 5 weeks 3 days after his birth.

I thought I got it on Christmas day as I got some bright red bleeding but then it stopped.

Started again on Thursday just gone and stopped again. But then came again on Friday and has been here since.

Its quite painful with lots of uterine contractions and quite heavy also.

The lead up to it was very hormonal. Lots of up and down. Very PMS'y.

Now that I'm over that hurdle, the next one is to work out whether I'm going to TTC again or go back to Uni...
