Trying to Conceive after Miscarriage or Loss ~ February 2011

Welcome Mia - much as we love to talk, I hope your stay here is short and that sticky BFP comes your way very soon. Like the other girls, we started trying straight away. I counted CD1 as being the first day of bleeding with the m/c - you can see by my FF chart that it was a pretty normal cycle (for me) and I did ovulate. But yeah, when you're ready. DH was afraid I was trying to replace our angel, but I just wanted a baby - our baby. Hopefully your angel will tell the perfect baby for you where you live and that you guys will be awesome parents.

Mia01 - welcome sweety & sorry you are here. We started trying straight away too - seems most people do - they just want to be back pg again!!
I would invest on some OPKs if I was you. You can get them cheap off the internet & they might be able to help you pinpoint O so you have a better chance of catching the egg.
Gosh it sucks to m/c esp when it has taken a long time ttc. I feel I have spent a lot of time & energy the last few years trying to have my family. Hang in there sweets - it is a waiting game but I believe we will all get our babies!!
MM - I am most upset for you. Why o why did thathave to go & happen? Big hugs to you x

emotions are weird things. It's so hard, Shan I can't imagine what you went through going past your EDD. I know it will be hard if I'm not utd by then (8 August)... Oh well, guess we keep on being happy for them and look forward to being ECSTATIC for each other!!!

WBM: Mine was 5th August, so close! I have no idea how I'll be feeling by then. This week's been a bit of a rollercoaster, what with 1 person announcing and DH's cousin having her little girl. Then people from my BB thread that I added on FB talking about feeling flutters now. It all adds to the 'that should be me too!' kind of feeling :( Will I still be feeling like this in August? I know I will be sad on the 5th, but it's just weird. I mean, if I am PG by then, I'm sure I will still definitely feel sad on the 5th, but all the other days? I guess time will tell...

Hi Ladies :hello:

I just had a m/c a week ago and it was the hardest thing after 2 years ttc to get a BFP and go from such a high to getting blood tests every 2nd day (cos my hcg wasnt going up as it should) to getting shifted to the EPAC (Early Pregnancy Assesment Clinic) at the hospital the next minute, to getting told it could be ectopic to getting told "we cant see anything" and then the next day getting AF and having the m/c :(
It was devastating for both DH and I bcos we thought FINALLY after 2 years we caught the eggie but NO! Anyways I have to think a little more positively in that atleast our little angel knows where we live now, so hopefully he/she is in the vecinity! LOL

I wanted to ask you ladies how long you waited before you ttc again? I'm going to try again this month but I have no idea if I'll O or not or when?? Should I just count the days as per my "usual" cycle??

Oh Mia! I am so sorry. How heartbreaking! :( I have miscarried in January (21st) and got AF again on Sunday (20th Feb). I am not TTC this cycle, but not actively avoiding it either. I've started temping and charting again but I won't actively try again until next cycle. I think whenever you are ready. I am desperate to be UTD again and have a sticky, but I also wanted to be completely back to normal hormonally too so there's better chance of it sticking. That's why the wait for 2nd cycle for me.

AFM: I am dying of the heat here (Perth)!! It's totally insane! It's our hottest summer in 33 years. We're having 15 consecutive nights warmer than 20 degrees as the minimum and pretty much every day in the mid 30's. It's been happening for 2 weeks now and it's also happening all this coming week. Everyone is totally over it! We have a reverse-cycle a/c in the living room and can shut the door, so I've been sleeping in there, but DH doesn't seem to be affected at all and stays in the bed with just the pedestal fan on him! That didn't cut it for me, lol. Glad we're not TTC this cycle cause we aren't getting much action atm (TMI)! lol

Apart from that everything's okay. I've had a bit of a rollercoaster week emotionally. Tuesday some friends announced their pregnancy and I was quite sad, DESPITE them having to go through IVM to do so and then I felt bad about being sad. Then the next day DH's cousin had her baby and I had nothing but joy for them. Then yesterday someone ELSE announced pregnancy and I was like aaaaaaargh! I'm thinking of de-activating FB for a little while. It's getting a bit much. I have SO many pregnant women or women who've just announced on FB and it's driving me crazy sometimes. But then there are people I really want to keep up with too. Maybe I should just 'hide' all the preggos for a while? That doesn't stop others announcing though... and I'm happy for them too. I really am. It's totally separate, just like WannaBeMum said. Ambivalence I think it's called.

So that's me at the moment! Pray that I'll stay alive in this awful heat! Are any others from Perth too?

Oh yeah... does anyone know if there's a waiting period between having the Whooping Cough booster and TTC? DH and I are going to have it this week so that when we visit DH's cousin and her baby it's all safe.

Pheebee - TTC away after the vaccine, no probs with TTC and vaccines. Good on you for having it! There's a horrible outbreak at the moment. We had the booster just after DS was born, Victoria were giving it out for free to new parents to stop transmission to babies.

We had AC put in in Nov 09 - the summer before we had horribly hot weather (lots of 40+ days followed by black saturday), but both just got through it, weird. After DS though, I was like, we are NOT doing that with a baby without AC! And of course, we've had barely any hot weather since - touch wood. Floods instead.

I get a case of the "it's not fair" when my friends announce. I've got at least one of my close girlfriends who's getting close to 12 weeks, so as soon as she announces, everyone's going to be talking about it. Found out this week ANOTHER friend is TTC now, and it didn't take them long the first time. Oh well, they all know I had a m/c and they're pretty good about it - although I think it's easy to forget when it's not yours.

AFM - seem to be having fertile CM, not unusual for me at this stage of my cycle, although it's keeping on for a while and I've had O-type cramping yesterday and today, but not quite. Did an opk today and had a faint line, so I'll do them daily now and see if they get darker, maybe I'll O early this time. That would be a nice change. Maybe the herbs are working. Off for a quiet night on the couch.

Phebee- I was told it's a 3 month wait before actively ttc after a whooping cough vaccine.

Different doctors have different opinions. So maybe ask your gp when you go in?

That's weird - the only ones I thought there were recommendations against waiting with were the MMR and chickenpox. But my nursing knowledge may be a little out of date - check with your GP. The Commonwealth's factsheet on pertussis vaccination doesn't mention waiting, but as Melz said, each Dr will have their own recommendations. Immunise - 3.14 Pertussis

The pertussis vaccine isn't a live virus vaccine so should be ok. I wonder why your Dr said 3 months Melz, did you have other vaccines too? :dunno: Nothing wrong with being sure!

It's not a live vax but they do suggest waiting between 3-6 months as they don't have enough data on the effects on pregnant ladies yet so to be safe they are suggesting waiting. Is basically what my doc said.

I had no other vaccinations at the time.

AFM, I think O was yesterday, waiting for FF to confirm, but I reckon I actually O'd at CD19! That has never happened in my knowledge so big ups to my naturopath. So hopefully it's a quick tww :)

Just realised it's CD 10 & we just DTD. Angel was concieved either day 10 or 11. This is my 'whatever happens happens' month so I didn't notice until now. I'm not gonna lie with my legs in the air or obsess about testing this cycle unless AF is late, but now I'm aware of it I've really gotta get my phenylalanine levels down.

I have PKU and have to strictly limit my daily dietary protein intake and replace it all with a formula that doesn't contain the amino acid phenylalanine. For preconception and pregnancy it's even stricter. After my MC I had a few weeks off the food rails, with my dietitian's approval, but since I got AF I've been strict again. Now I'm fertile it's time to tighten the reins to the max! Just in case...

wow pheebee, PKU's so rare! Do you know if you've O'd? We might be hanging out to test together :) Good luck with the diet, it's so hard to limit something, but you'd know that better than me.

hi ladies,welcome to the new ladies,sorry for your loss & hope your stay is short...afm-my bt showed a positive but with extremely low progesterone,ivf nurse called it a bio-chemical pregnancy,af has been & gone.starting to track 'o' again on the 7th in hopes for another embryo transfer ...

Oh MM, I'm so sorry. Do you just now have to wait for your fertile time when they can do the FET? I don't know much about it. Or are there lots of injections and things to take?

WBM, wow! I'm surprised you've heard of it. Most people haven't or if they have they have no idea what it is :)

I think I may be about to O. On my angel's cycle I DTD on CD 10 and 12 and O'ed on CD 12. Had a small (0.1 degree) temp rise today so that's looking possible.

MM *hug* I'm so sorry it didn't work out. FX and vibes for a well-implanted sticky embryo next time!
