mollycat-- BIG cheer for O!!! Better late than never! Lot's of BFP prayers are coming your way! I wish I could convince my DS to get a haircut! Most of the boys here in the town we live have long, goofy hair like they're from the 60's or something--or was it the 70's? lol... I'm a little too young to know, but you get the drift!

Jodsan-- Woo hoo for O! Get ready for some hanky panky, it's time to make a baby! I decided to check the Jonas calendar to see how accurate it was with my DS's. First I did the Chinese gender prediction thing with my son's b-days so that I had an estimate of the date they were conceived. My oldest was spot-on the day that the Jonas calendar said I was fertile. My younger son was about 2 wks. off--BUT both were supposed to be boys, and obviously that part was right! So I decided to see what I would be having (supposedly) if I get pg in June--and it said a girl! :cheer:

KrystieLove-- Ooohh, the cottage sounds so nice! And how sweet of your friends to make it all possible for you! Good luck with your post-op appt. on Friday--is there any chance you could get your BT done a little earlier so that they already have those results for that appt. instead of having to wait? Otherwise, you'll probably have to get through the weekend without knowing where your hcg levels are. BTW, I'm hoping you want to squish me in a nice way--not like a bug! lol... I'll take it as a big cyber-squish-hug! Thanks!


Vanaithi-- :rofl: you sound like me about the cervix position! But I do have to say that I was able to figure it out last week and could definitely tell where it was then. As soon as AF bails, I'm going to check again just so I can tell the difference. Preseed helps with CM, and also helps keep those all powerful :sperm: alive longer because it's supposedly like EWCM,which is the type of environment that helps keep them going. Lubricants and even saliva apparently deplete and kill off the little spermies--can you believe the horror? Good luck if you decide to try it--couldn't hurt at least!


SaraJane--Yay on high temps, hope they stay that way! Good luck with the move this weekend. Wow, can't believe you'll be without the internet for 20 days! At least all the cleaning and unpacking will make the time go by much quicker, but you'll definitely be missed! Maybe you'll surprise us all with a BFP announcement when you come back!

tina--Glad to see you're back from Sydney, hope it wasn't all work and you got a little play out of it! I can sympathize with your feeling lost--that's how much of my last cycle was for me! Also started taking B6 about a week ago, so if I end up with a BFP at the end of this month, I won't know what it was that helped--but I guess it won't matter then! Fingers crossed!

Hey Jen - i checked with the Chinese chart before i got pg that if i conceived in April, June, July or August it would be a girl and if i conceived in May it would be a boy. So as I conceived in April I think it may be a girl. But I thought I was having a girl with DS and the Chinese chart said so too and that was obviously wrong. Also the chart was wrong with my mum - she was meant to be a boy. The needle and thread said when i was pg with DS that i was going to have a boy then a girl - the girl indicator was very strong. But I have done it again this time while pg and it is really inconclusive for both DS and this pg so I might wait a bit to do it again.

SaraJane: if only we have a clearer indication of when we're fertile! i have a saliva tester but that's been ferning all the time so it's not right! & this cervix thing is all over the place! i read that its supposed to feel like soft lips when you're fertile. if im fertile now it feels nothing like soft lips! all over place i say! is your temp supposed to dip before imlantation? GOOD LUCK with it & hope it is for you! my temp has dipped again its now 36.30 from 36.45 yesterday. is this ovulation dip?? so many dips!

Jen & SaraJ: im going to google it today & purchase some! if only i knew about it earlier! im so dry its not funny! might be too late now, but i'll put it to good use next time round! (hopefully won't have to!)

AJC - Really hope you're psychic!! I'm pretty sure I O'd this morning at about 8am, so hopefully the process is beginning. So happy your hcg is good, this bubba is a strong one, I'm sure it's all going to go great. Bet you're hanging out for the next scan.

Vanaithi - Yeah, you should get a dip b4 you O, you will probably O later today. If you are having trouble with checking for signs with your cervix, another sign is your lymph nodes in your groin. Usually the lymph node on the side that releases the eggs gets a little inflamed and sore (just feels like a little round lump). This always happens for me, its pretty easy to detect.

Plc and Jen- Yeah, I'm not that confident with the chinese chart. I think it says 80% accurate, so its probably just an 80% chance of conceiving the sex that the chart says. It was right for Aiden, but I haven't researched any further than that.

How good will it be when they come out with an "instant pregnancy test" that psychically knows that you have conceived and that it will be a sticky bubba?!

pcl - I read somewhere that many of the chinese gender charts are slightly out due to some change in the calender system or something. Apparently there are versions of the charts that compensate for the change, so maybe check what type of chart you are using. I'm pretty sure I googled that info once... Not sure if it works anyway, but a lot of people swear by it.
In fact, once I finish posting I might go have another look for it and see what I would be having if it turns out I'm preggers. We're taking supplements to encourage a girl, so fingers crossed all the charts agree! :stork-girl:

Vanaithi - I sometimes check my saliva at work on the microscope, and when it works I'm amazed at how pretty it looks. I read that you shouldn't eat anything for a few hours before you do the test though because it changes the salt levels or something. I never really used the saliva test to work out when I was ovulating though, I just did it a couple of times when I knew I was ovulating to see what it looks like :)
I'm so glad that your DH called to see if you were ok. At least he was thinking about you and felt bad. Congrats on bd'ing, lol!
Apparently with an inverted uterus it can also change the position of your cervix too. I've heard that doctors can sometimes have trouble finding it in there too. I don't think I have that problem though because I can always feel it. It just always feels pretty similar to me :wall:

plc - I found the info! Apparently the reason the chinese charts you find on the net are inaccurate is because you have to use your "lunar age", not just your normal age but the sites don't tell you that, or how to work it out.

I found a site that has a link to a page that you put in your birthday and the babies conception date, and then it works out your lunar age and predicts the gender. Google "thelaboroflove" and the the link is in the middle in the pregnancy section and is called "Chinese Gender Prediction Chart". Am I allowed to write that here? I hope so, don't want to get smacked...

I did it for me to see what the gender would be if we've been lucky enough to conceive, and apparently "It's a girl! (Chinese Age 30 at Lunar month 4)". Should I be upset that my lunar age makes me older?! Lol!!!

Jodsan ? we do sound similar. Thanks for the tips about Estrogen dominance. I did speak to my FS about it (my vent about the appointment is below), and he seemed to brush my questions off. But ? I do reckon that?s it. Can I ask, is it giving you spotting outside of your normal period? I have spotted very lightly today on Day 8, 3 days after finishing my AF. Fortunately, I am already doing most of the things on your list. DH and I are vegetarians. I have recently switched to Organic free range eggs because I eat an egg a day and have read the others are packed with the hormones you were speaking of. I don?t drink coffee either, and have managed to get down to one black tea a day (with 1 or 2 green or white teas a day). I fail in the exercise area. I am fairly trim, but know I could use some more cardio. When are your exams? You must be busy studying with a 2 year old! Good to read about lunar cycles ? I have printed mine off. Seems to be past the forecasted ?O? this month, so maybe DH and I will do some extened BD?ing

Jenushka ? in my last pregnancy I conceived on the third cycle. It was the only month I used PreSeed. My DH is certain the PreSeed helped, especially as we have read CM is less hospitable (not just less in volume ) as we get older. I will never know if it helped or hindered the pregnancy. You will see in my ?vent? below what my FS had to say about it? And a belated congrats on the +OPK

Jen ? I noticed you were asking Jenushka about applying PreSeed? I just want you to know that that stuff is FUN!. There is too much in the applicator, so we are not going to use it all this time. But (TMI) it does not all just need to be inserted. DH also likes it applied on to you know where. Great forplay. How embarrassing. I just know he is really looking forward to our getting back in the saddle this month.

Mollycat ? enjoy your new haircut. After my recent MC one of the first things I did was go shorter and really light blonde. I had pretty bad regrowth prior because I don?t colour my hair in the first trimester. I hope it has made you feel sweet.

AFM ? Saw my FS yesterday. Day 7 of first TTC cycle (after having two periods). Armed with an A4 page of questions inspired by reading from our Flowerchild, I got no answers. I still do not understand how my chromosomally normal baby with a perfect heartbeat got taken from us before 10 weeks. ?There must be something wrong with my machinery,? I insisted. So he has offered to perform a barrage of tests which were all the ones I was hoping for (including the Factor V Leiden one Flowerchild has spoken of). He suspects they will come back fine. Maybe I am overeacting, but I don't want to go through another MC. I would like to go into the next pregnancy knowing everything is in good working order. I will also be having an ultrasound next month related to some cramping I am having throughout my cycle. But the FS did say a few things which got my goat up. For one, I was accused of doing too much reading. It is not the first time I have been told this. Secondly, I asked him what he thought of PreSeed (which I believe helped us with our last conception). The FS said it is very expensive and I might as well be using Olive Oil! None the less ? I have two boxes waiting in my ensuite and fully intend to enjoy them. Thirdly, I had a question for him about my high BBT?s. I had printed off some lovely pages of charts. He handed them back to me and said he thought BBT-ing was a waste of time! AGGGGGH! I will not bore you all with the full conversation, but I did feel a little deflated. I had been looking forward to the appointment and having a good conversation about what we have been through and what the best way forward is, but mostly got non-commital monosyllabic one-word answers. :wall:OK ? have fully vented now!

Yep. you got it. I have lost two babies and his website says one of his interests is miscarriage. Just like my OB's website. Yet neither has shown any real sympathy or tenderness. Or given me any understanding as to why it has happened. Guess they see it all the time in their job.

it's like nurses i guess... they go through so much with their type of work... so it desensitises them...but still... it would make life much better for all of us if they realise that although they've dealt with many similar cases, each individual is different, so a little sympathy won't hurt. especially MEN! they just don't have feelings sometimes...

I've been taking magnesium and calcium supplements to try to encourage a girl. If you are after a boy you can take sodium and potassium. It's called "sex selection by ionic equilibrium" and while I can't find a study that proves it in humans, I found a great study in a scientific journal that studied it in rats, and I figure that everything is tested on rats before people so it's probably a pretty good study. I have the study bookmarked, so if you want the link you can pm me. I also found a webpage about a study that is apparently published in a journal (I just can't find the exact journal article), about a study of 7810 pregnant patients that used the ionic method of sex selection, and they found it 97% effective for conceiving a boy, and 95% effective for a girl.

It all has to do with the polarity of the pellucid membrane around your egg. A male and female sperm have different polarities. Your diet (or supplements ) can change the polarity of the membrane so that it attracts or repels only the male or female sperm. I have that link if you want it too :)

DH and I are trying to attract the girly spermies because he already has two boys :D Hopefully it works, but if we get a boy I'll love him just as much!

WTH - :hug: I know how you feel, my ob was exactly the same. At the time I was quite shattered and felt like I had been brushed off, but now that I can think about it with a bit less emotion, I can see (sort of) why they are like that. It is pretty easy for them to just say it is bad luck and more than likely won't happen again - they base this on statistics. But I really do think that if having extra tests done make you feel more reassured about your next pg, what is the harm in doing them? It's no skin off their nose surely. If you want the extra tests done, stick to your guns! When we started to see our FS about my irregular cycles, one of the first things he did was extra recurrent m/c testing. I could have kissed him LOL when he said "The last thing you want is another miscarriage". Anyway he says the same about BBT as your FS - he thinks it is a waste of time too. I don't really agree but after 18 months of TTC I am pretty much over temping LOL so it was all I needed to hear to stop!! And with the tracking I am having done now there's not much point in temping anyway. Good luck!

Sorry for no more personals, but DD is going feral in the background here. She has had to stay home from preschool today because she has conjunctivitis - yuck! And its her birthday today too - poor love.

I just wanted to say thanks for all the well wishes, and I will definitely still be around :) I'm actually feeling pretty positive about my decision today too - I spoke to the FS today and he is really confident too, said that hopefully we will have a BFP within 3 cycles. And he thinks that 25mg of Clomid should do (half the dose I took last time), so hopefully the side effects shouldn't be as bad as last time. Anyway, I start taking it on CD4 (Thursday) so we'll see how we go. At least it is the long weekend this weekend too, so DH will be around for 3 days to help me cope with it if need be. I start with the cycle tracking next Wednesday, so here's hoping for some good BT results, and ovulation and IUI happening towards the end of next week! Will keep you posted how we go :crossfingers:

I am not sure I really belong here at the moment, but I just love reading your posts and am impressed at how supportive you are all of one another and attentive. I m/c our twins on the 5th May at 11 weeks, and am currently waiting for AF to return, but also have to wait until 20th August before we can start TTC again. This is because I had to have a Rubella booster and it is recommended that we wait three months before trying again. So I am a bit down about it, as we wanted to try as soon as possible, but that's now in August. Which just seems like ages away. So I hope I can get to know you all better and support you all in the TTC quest.

Mollycat the reno's sound exciting, my house is in desperate need of it, it's a 100 year old blue stone villa and is beautiful, but needs a lot of tlc IYKWIM. I have timber floors and they are lovely, but they also need a good sanding and polishing! I hope to renovate in the next few years, its just a matter of cash though isn't it? By the way hope you caught that eggie...;)

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, I've felt really down in the dumps since AF showed her face. She's been strange, so I did a test tonight just in case, but it was BFN, as deep down I knew it would be, oh dear.

I'm looking at fertility friend atm, which I've never bought a VIP for, but it's given me a few days free VIP and based on my signs it shows I may have missed ovulation by 4 days last cycle. Typical. So I've memorised the fertile days and predicted ovulation day for me for this cycle so when the free Vip days run out I'll remember the right days, lol.

I've got my fingers crossed for all those in TWW. Take care girls.

Just got shipping info on my preseed and thermometer, they went out yesterday, but they're coming through the postal service which could make it take a little longer to get here. AF still lingering, so I still have some time--I'm more anxious right now to begin temping since I won't use the preseed until right before O. Perhaps you can entice DH into some extra :bd: with a kinky movie--that always seems to get them in the mood! Go catch that egg, girl!

I looked up the type of food you should avoid if you're trying for a girl, and realized why I have boys! :lol: There's no way I can stay away from pizza... and coffee... and even red licorice! Seems as though all the foods I enjoy are the ones I'm supposed to avoid if I want a girl! It figures! Good luck again with your appointment on Friday--screw being patient, you should get the hcg! As you can tell, patience is not my forte! :lol:


Where there's hope--Sorry you're feeling so deflated about your FS appt. Sounds like a typical man! I truly think that only women should deal with fertility issues. A man can think he's read all the books and know all the statistics, but he's lacking a uterus--so how can he even pretend to understand to know what's going on inside a woman's body? Especially when each woman is different! One more question on the preseed: if you don't use it all, and there's still some left in the applicator, can it be used again at a later time?


megsmum--Glad to see you're still around! Sorry to hear about DD's conjunctivitis-- and on her b-day even! Hope she still managed to have a great day! Praying the clomid brings you a BFP with no ill side effects!

I'm so, so sorry to read of the loss of your twins! Praying for a quick AF for you to begin the healing process from the inside. Hi Jen, Megsmum, and Acria I hope that AF is not treating you too badly and that she'll soon be out the door for at least the next 10 months, it's about time we had some more BFP's in here, it's been really quiet for the last week.

Leyza - glad you could join us, but sorry you had to. This is such a supportive and funny bunch, so very helpful they have really helped me through for the last seven months, hopefully Af is not far away for you and August comes quickly so you can TTC again.
PLC - everything is looking good for you, bet you can't wait until your next scan, should be able to see a proper shaped baby then.
Issy - the extention is almost finished, the plumber and electician finished yesterday, the tiler should be back in today to finish up, the builder just has to put our screens on our windows and rehang the laundry door (I think then he's finished too). We need to paint one more coat on the room then we can bring in the big furniture. So far I've put in the day care stuff and started to fill up the kitchen. Then it's onto the old bathroom and old kitchen and stripping them out and starting again.

AFM - I can only hope we caught the egg, my temps are finally behaving themselves and looking good at the moment but I still have a week or so to go before I find out :pray:

For everyone I missed :grouphug::pink-babydust::stickyvibesgirl: I must go and get everyone's lunches ready and head for the shower once again, it's almost time to start work, YUCK. It's raining here and I'll have three kids, ages 2, 3 and almost 2 stuck inside all day.

smilanatu - yeah looks like we are - i was 37 on the 18 may and just getting used to my age when my chinese year has me already rehearsing for my age next year - hahaha!! bump is ok but it really is just flabby guts at the moment - truth be told. As i am about 20 kilos overweight, I'm sure I will compare to a side of a house at the end of my pg (God-willing!!). How are you going sweet?

Well, it is Day 9 of my third cycle after D&C. I was just gearing up to start TTC again, but started fresh bleeding last night, and this morning, with period-like cramping. Have managed to talk my way into an ultrasound this afternoon. Have any of you had weird bleeding like this so long after your D&C?

Feeling miserable and defeated. Just want things back to normal :(

Jen - you can use the rest of the PreSeed another time, but you cannot use the applicator twice. Maybe if you have a syringe (like what comes with cough mixture) use that the first time, so that you can use the applicator the second?

Plc - where is your ticker gone? And by the way, I have to say when ever people tell me they are pg, I immediately get this weird sense of what sex the baby is and with you I do feel a girl...I have not been wrong yet! Weird but true!

Mollycat - your reno's sound so exciting, I must admit im a bit jealous, I would love to be doing it right now, but just cant afford it atm. We have an enormous mortgage on our house as it cost us nearly 750k and is right by the beach, which means there is so very little money for reno's at the moment. We got a bargain really cause the houses around us are valued between 800k-1mil, but of course they are already renovated! Ours is going to have to stay 'shabby' for a while I think.

Wherethereshope - hey hun, sorry your fs was a bit of **** the other day. He was probably so put out by all your reading because it shows up his 'lack' of knowledge. And just to let you know, my fs highly recommends temping, so I say continue with it. I have heard that a lot of male ob/gyn/fs can be a bit detached from the emotions of ttc and pg, unfortunately they are trained to see everything medically, everything with a diagnosis and a medical treatment, and everything is black and white. Luckily my fs is a close family friend...he is always so supportive of everything and is the most gentle man I know. He prints out copious amount of info for me and discusses everything in detail. At least you know you can get some very useful advice from the wonderful ladies in here. I hope he doesn't make you feel so down next time.

I just read your last post - So sorry to hear your having a rough trot with your cycle this month, it can be so frustrating. I too had some mid cycle bleeding at about cd11 3 months after my d&c. Very strange! I went in for an u/s and fs told me there was some residual blood and tissue left, and because it was at the time of ov, my body was trying to shed the extra 'matter' in anticipation for implanation (of the egg I was getting ready to release). Maybe this is what your body is trying to do??? Im so sorry this is happening hun, take care of yourself :hug:

Issy - thank you so much, sweet.
My head is very scattered this morning and I was hanging to hear back from someone. You always say the right things! Can I ask when you had the US after 3 months with the residual bit diagnosed, did they tell you to do anything - medication or another darned D&C? Was it still safe to TTC that month? A similar thing happened to me 6 weeks after my D&E last Sept, only the spotting was more often. Turned out to be a tiny 1mm clot. They considered another procedure, but said to see if it would come out itself with the next period. Another D&C feels so extreme!

Hi WTH - FS told me that it should all clear out with the next AF which I was to expect in 2 weeks and it did arrive 2 weeks later, but was a little lighter than usual, Im guessing this was because of the mid cycle bleeding. He said that I probably wouldnt conceive that cycle simple because my uterine lining was shedding (which begins the transition back to oestrogen I believe?) at the same time as it was supposed to be producing higher levels of progesterone to support implantation, therefore although the bleeding would not have effected ovulation, it would effect the conditions in the uterus (wrong hormone present). He explained to me that a D&C would be unnecessary simply becuase it was a job my body could do itself naturally and the D&C would just put us back further. I just had to sit it out and wait, and start ttc again after AF arrived. It was a set back and was very frustrating and upsetting. Talk to your fs and see what he recommends, but I would say it is just your body trying to get rid of something that will hinder its chance of conception. Also, my fs did explain to me that it is not impossible to fall pg during a cycle with mid-cycle bleeding, but that the chances are decreased somewhat. So try and stay positive and I hope you get the answers you need. Huge :hug: for you hun, Im thinking of you.

It had been forever since i have last posted but let me tell you all i have been lurking and reading what everyone is up too.

AFM - I have just this morning been for my 12 week NT scan. Everything appears to be good but have to wait for bt results to find out the full story. Today they also told me that the scan showed that i was 13 wks and 3 days not 12 wks and 3 days. Bub appears healthy and everything is well. It was bouncing around alot and not co operating at all (just likes it's sister).
I have also been on the Chinese Charts to find out what this one might be even though i do have a feeling. It said that this one is a girl and according to it it was also right about my daughter. But the interesting thing it did show was that all my miscarriages have been boys which is pretty spiny as i always believed that the reaon i kept m/c was that i couldn't carry boys. I guess we will find out at the end if it is a girl but most of my girlfriends, sister and my daughter believe it is a girl. We will just have to wait and see. I really hope it is as i have the most beautiful clothing from my daughter that it will be able to wear plus i know what to do with girls.
Well i think i need to thank everyone for their support over the past few months and really helping me through some tough times. I think that now that i am possibly into my second trimester it is time for me to move on the the PAML thread. I will still be lurking and waiting for more BFP's and hoping that you will all join me soon.
