Many people follow and believe in this very old way of looking at womans menstrual cycles and fertility.
A woman's natal moon phase relates to our menstrual cycle. Our natal moon is what phase the moon was in at the time of our own birth. So, for me I was born when the moon was in it's disseminating phase. This time is just after the full moon.
These time of the month is thought to be the second time of the month during which ovulation may be triggered and therefore a woman is considered to be potentially fertile. This concept, although it is "age old" was brought back into focus during the 1950's by Dr Eugene Jonas. Based on the research of Dr Jonas and many others it is considered possible for a woman to conceive not just at the time of biological ovulation but also at the time of the phase of the Moon under which you were born.
Your Natal Lunar Phase re-occurs each month and lasts around 3.5 days.
The really good news about all of this is that the moon is Disseminating on Friday the 8th of December - and that is cd14 of my first clomid cycle!!!
So, according to Dr Jonas I have an extra good chance of the egg meeting the sperm!!!!!
My naturopath was a big believer in this...she did our fertile lunar times as well...I admit, that I haven't followed it that much...but would be interesting to see what would happen if I did...
Maybe that's why Fertility Friend have the lunar cycle on the calender bit...
Monnie,
Many believe that this is why some women following the rythum and temp method for contraception get pregnant when they didn't expect that they *could*.
I just hope that the moon is good to me , my eggs and my husbands sperm this month!!!
Wow Deb I have never really heard much about this, but things look & sound good for you from what you have said, so I'll have everything crossed for you sweets.
Deb I wish you all the luck in the world for a BFP for Xmas.
My naturopath that I went to pre-conception with Amy did mine and it goes for the next 20 years or so (can't remember exactly). I am now going to take it more seriously now when TTC.
Thank you for sharing that, boy are you a fountain of knowledge. I had no idea about the theory that you have a second fertile period. Where do you go to find out your Natal Lunar Phase? Is this something you can figure out yourself or do you need to go to a naturopath?
Hi Spring,
To be really accurate you do need to see someone Francesca Naish is a big supporter of this theory and she has tools to help you line up your biological cycle with your lunar cycle. She has a little bit about this in her book "The Better Way to Better Babies".
I have NEVER had mine in line until now!!! So, I wonder what will happen?????
You should be able to find out what phase the moon was in when you were born if you know the time and place of your birth. Just do a google. I believe you are potentially fertile for roughly about 3 days before the moon hits your birth phase and for about 12 hours after the moon hits your birth phase.
Summer,
If you google "full moon" you will get some sites come up. If you take a peek youwill find a site that you can enter a date and it will tell you what phase the moon was in (eg your birthdate). This isn' tas accurate I believe as consulting someone who specialises in lunar fertility but I believe your lunar fertile begins approx 3 days prior to when the moon falls into the phase it was at your birth and for approx 24 hours after. It is believed that sexual activity prompts ovulation at this time. So in theory if youwant to conceive you need to get jiggy with it for about four days!
I will pop back on later and see if I can find the site that I found where you can enter your birth date... I had my chart done by an astrologist and that is how I know what my moon phase is however, I checked it with this site and it was the same...
Thanks Belinda, I had a look at that site but it said it was temporary unavailable
Still couldnt find one, could find lots which had find the data but not one for adding in a birthdate. Found a US Navy one, which i think im under a New Moon but then thought about the time difference and that probably wasnt right either.
