thanks everyone, we r so relieved! i didnt expect little bub to have fluid around it so quickly the doctor was just amazing. He did say one thing with the TTTS and the surgery is the babies will most likely be born around the 30week mark. so i better get organised!!!
Nell, pleased to hear that the surgery went well. I hope your babies remain healthy and well and stay inside to grow strong for as long as possible!
A box of choccies for that country sonographer?!
I'm so glad everything went well. I've been waiting to hear how everything went. I've seen videos of that surgery and it is amazing.
So glad everything has worked out for you!
so glad to come on and read that everything went well, crosses my fingers it keeps going great and u have some beautiful healthy babies at the end!!
just found this thread! thank goodness you had the scan when you did! hope you have a smooth rest of pg and your beautifull little bubbas are ok! Did you find out what sex they where in the end?? hugs to you
muminalice- im interested to see how they do it! they gave me the option to be awake for the surgery but i chose not to, at that stage i was getting too emotional (i got postponed as they had a baby come in needing surgery so was in the prep area for 2hrs thinking about it!).
beckoes- yes we found out we are having girls! Sooo excited!!!
i am just blown away by the amount of support on here, it's amazing thanks so much everyone!!!
so happy for you isn't it amazing the things they can do please let us know how your little bubs are going
Nell, I've just found this thread.........so pleased to hear that things have worked out well :D. Congrats on two girls, looking forward to following your pg! Good luck getting organised, pop into the premmie thread if you have any questions :)
we just got back from melbourne today we got excellent news both girls r doing great the doctor even called them amazing. have to have weekly scans at the moment and an mri in 2weeks to check theres no brain damage. i am so happy to be home and with positive news!
That's fantastic news MummyNelly, I hope the rest of your pregnancy is trouble free and your girls remain well
xx
Thats fantastic and almost 22weeks woohoo.
woohoo fantastic news
That's fantastic news!! What little miracles!
mummynelly thats fantastic news!
So how are your beautiful girls going?
well we had a scan last thurs then again on tues and they said the brain isnt growing as fast as it should, theres space between the brain and the skull that shouldnt be there. So we're not sure if its definite brain damage or not. Waiting on getting an MRI appointment the specialist wants it for wed or thurs next wk but depends when i can get in. Have another scan next thurs in melb too.
Mummynelly- You're due 6 days before me! But I'm guessing you'll be having your little bunnies well before me being that there is two of them fighting for space in there. I hope everything goes ok with the MRI, this must be pretty frightening for you. Have you got lots of support to help you out at the moment?
I'm so sorry the news has not been the greatest so far, and I hope the MRI scans give you some greater clarity into what you are facing. Such a scary time so all I can really do is send you a hug  and let you know you are in my thoughts
trav
xx
thanks everyone for ur support. I can honestly say it hasnt been the most enjoyable pregnancy as everytime things look up something else comes up. I dont live near family (my sister is half hr away but i hardly see her!) my mother and i dont talk, im close to my nan but shes 8hrs away and my dad is 14hrs away so im finding it hard at the moment. my husband has his dad and brother just around the corner. today especially im finding it hard and feel like i have no one to turn to for help. i hurt my back on the weekend and its still giving me hell so bending or anything like that even getting up hurts like hell and i have alot of housework to do. my husband helps out heaps but hes also been working alot so he can afford to have time off when need be.
MummyNelly, just wishing you the best, I hope you can find some support and hoping all goes well with your precious bubs xx
we had the mri and another scan and the results werent good. have to go back in 2 1/2 weeks for more appointments and scan.
 Nell, I have everything crossed that the girls are ok.
Hi Mummy Nelly, I've been following your thread from the beginning. I'm sorry to hear that the MRI results were not what you (and we) were hoping for. I will be thinking of you and I hope your scan in two and a half weeks shows improvement.
thanks everyone unfortunately i don't think it is possible to improve. The MRI showed the brain hasn't grown and looks shrivelled. Her head is alot smaller than the bigger bub and her brain still too small for her head. The specialist said its quite severe damage and she has Cerebral Palsy. We're seeing a paediatition who is a specialist in brain damage and we will get more info on what to expect etc. If we didnt have the surgery to begin with then she wouldnt have survived this far yet having it has resulted in this. They cant say if it was b4, during or after surgery that she's been lacking in oxygen causing the damage. We still love her just as much and are lucky to have most ppl supportive of our decision not to terminate (i could never do that).
I'm so sorry you have had this news MummyNelly. Have they given you any indication of when you will deliver?
I have just read your thread MummyNelly and I am sooo sorry to hear your news. My heart is breaking for you.
Words cannot describe what you must be going through.
I just wanted to say I am thinking of you
I am so sorry MummyNelly. No words can help but please know there are people out there thinking of you and your family x
I hope you're doing ok hun. Such a big thing you are going through and I just wanted to say that I think you are amazing for the choices you have made. You are such a brave woman and I hope you have soooo much support around you to go on this journey with you.
Still praying for you and your babies MummyNelly.
thanks so much everyone, ur words mean alot. Traveller- they said expect to deliver from 30wks onwards but the specialist the other day said between week 26-32 is the critical time when i can go into labour. so i'm trying not to do much and stay close to home just in case! if i do go into labour i need to go straight to the doctor and get transfered to melbourne. It's a bit daunting the not knowing what's going to happen but i just try to concentrate on staying calm for the girls.
You sound so strong MummyNelly, I'm sorry I can't do anything more than tell you I am thinking and praying for you and yours twins, and completely understand and respect your decision not to terminate.
I think your two gorgeous daughters are lucky to have such strong and loving parents. Please keep us all updated with your progress, I'll be thinking of you.
Mummy Nelly - I have only just come across your post and read this whole thread from start until now. You are an amazing and strong woman with such a positive attitude. I can't even begin to imagine how you are feeling right now but please be comforted by the support on here - I will be watching this thread for your updates, keeping my fingers crossed and your family in my thoughts.
aww thanks again everyone! Last nite the most amazing thing happened I got to see the smaller baby kick! I've felt them both for weeks now but hadn't seen it til last nite! And being the little one too i was sooo happy!
Thats fantastic. Surely that means she is growing stronger. I have everything crossed for you that things will improve each week.
MummyNelly,
I hope everything goes well for your girls. I will be thinking of you.
Deb
we had another scan on tuesday and it showed both girls r growing and there is no further damage to lil ones brain (only what we already knew) there's 2 weeks growth difference between them but she said thats ok as its all over growth not just head. we attempted to get a look at their faces but they wouldnt look!!!
that's great news, how often are you getting scans? Hopefully the girls will not be so camera shy for the next one :D
