2 sets of twins in 2 years

Anyone else with 2 sets of twins?? I have 19 month old boy/girl twins, and am 15 weeks (or 16 weeks, depending on which U/S you refer to) pregnant with my second set. I'm pretty energetic and organised, but am still freaking out a bit about how to cope once the second set arrive.
Any tips on how to survive the crazy first 6 months?? The new twins are due around the time of my current twins' second birthday.
And we were naive enough to think we could simply try for just one more baby... No IVF, just natural over-production of eggs. No more pregnancies for me!!

I personally dont but my grandparents had 2 sets 11 months apart. Nan reckons that as long as you have good support it works ok. They also had a 16 month old when the first set were born. Nan and Pop had a roster where if it was 1 set it was his turn if it was the other set it was her turn. They went on to have 3 more singletons after the second set of twins.

    Thanks Bee84.
Good advice alioops. I just turned to hubby with that advice and he's started discussing how we could make that work. Aren't your grandparents amazing??! I'm in awe of how multiples were carried successfully through pregnancy and birth without all that we have today (my first set were early and needed feeding through nose tube for first 3 weeks of their lives). My great-grandmother had 2 sets of twins and a single child, but my grandmother can't recall much from how her parents coped, apart from lots of big pots of casserole and stew and a large vege garden! Good to get advice from your grandparents given they're the parents of twins, rather than one of the children (like my grandmother).

    Cheers

First of all you lucky devil. We have one set and we were hoping for other set as I went for an Ultrasound today and we have one healthy little bubba. All I can suggest that you will need to keep to a strict routine with both sets. Good luck:

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

I have one set of twin boys and one singleton boy 15months apart. Not the same I know all I can say is ROUTINE, ROUTINE, ROUTINE! And when you get those days when the routine goes up the **** (sorry for the language) Take a long deep breath, and smile because you have four beautiful bubbas! The nightmare will not last forever and think of it this way You know how hard having twins is hard work so you are not in for such a rude awakening this time!!

REST WHILE YOU STILL HAVE A CHANCE!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Caro CONGRATULATIONS!!! Wow excitement and OMG feelings going on eh? I only have 1 set of 10 month old twins and a 6 year old boy, but my neighbour had 4 kids under 3 and she said that she used to feed and bath them at the same time! I thought that was hilarious when she told me, but she was dead serious about the whole thing - she said to me girl when you have 4 messy kids to feed why not? and I guess she's right, my two little darlings make a big enough mess, so 4 doing it at the same time? Aaaargh yes she's totally right!

Us twin mummies seem to thrive in chaos, I'm sure you'll do great! Big hugs to you hun. x

I have 4 under 2 (23 month old Aiden and 5 month old triplets) and we have no routine. The only thing in our house is everyone feeds and gets changed at the same time. Good luck for the months ahead

I haven't - and am pretty excited about just having the one on board - but I have been a nanny for a lot of twin families, including one family who had fraternal [awesome] boys who were 19 months old when the identical boys came along. Their mum was amazing. Stuff I think she did well:
    - Keep a sense of humour about you
    - Relinquish control! (accept that some stuff is going to happen that you don't like, and work with it)
    - Prioritise!
    - Don't be afraid to ask for help

But, yeah, laughing seemed to be the most important thing. I remember her saying once "the little ones don't even bother crying - they know noone's gonna come!" Totally not true, but she used humour to deflect her frustration that she couldn't always get to every need of every child right on time.

    Good luck!

Congrats! Are your first set identical or unidentical? What about the second set?

I was going to post similar to what Ali did (we're sisters) but she beat me to it!
