Trish, Declan and Rylee started off in 00000 however even some of those were too big. They finally got into 0000 by about 2 months and 000 only 2 weeks ago.
We actually had or 4 month checkup today and Decan is 13lb 1 and Rylee 12lb 1, so we are going ok. Both are still in the 25th percentile but we are happy.
-
Tam - what size were they when they were born ?
-
Hey Trish. Declan was 5lb 11 and Rylee 5lb 8. Good sizes for twins at 36 weeks
-
Hope everyone is well. My boys are now 5 weeks old. Not getting a lot of sleep, but thats to be expected. Can't wait for them to drop a feed. Have my 4 week check up (couldn't get in last week) tomorrow with ob.
I;m getting out walking a fair bit since I still not allowed to drive - which has probably helped as I am now a couple of kgs below my pre pregnancy weight :)
-
Yay Kelly, thats great. Unfortantly I'm one of these people that actually put weight on while b/f, I keep telling myself that as soon as our feeds have settled down a little, I will rejoin the gym.
Ohhh isn't it sso sad when you have to box up the little clothes, I boxed up all of our 00000 and some 0000 the other day, it was pretty sad as we most probably will not be using them again but I will keep them for a little while just-in-case.

Hi All,
35 wks and 3 days now!!! I have had intense braxton hicks and some pain "down there" so I think my body will be putting up the "GET OUT NOW" sign very soon! I can feel my body changing IYKWIM??
Yay Kelly on losing so much weight! I cant believe your boys are 5wks old!!!
Tam, I hope my bubs are around what Declan and Rylee were at birth. Still small but a good size to be able to manage. Although DH has expressed concerns that his big hands will "hurt" them!!
GoTTa Go

Hi Girls,
My name is Emma, and I live in Adelaide. My Husband and I found out on Wednesday that we are now expecting Twins!!!!! It has come as a huge shock to us, and I so was not expecting to be told that there were two in there! Our Son thinks it's great, but I'm sure he may change his mind when they come along, lol.
I'm fortunate enough to have a friend who had twins late last year, she actually used to post in this forum, Wonderwoman, so I'm chewing her ear off for lots of information, and I've been given a wonderful book, so I'm finding out all I can.
I would love to know how you all reacted when you discovered you were having twins, mine was one of much shock, but as it has sunk in, I realise just how lucky I am.
I look forward to chatting with you all, and sharing this amazing journey.
Thanks,
Emma.

Hi Emma
congratulations on 'twins' and welcome - you have read the same book I bet
'Twins' by Katrina Bowman & Louise Ryan ?
I am expecting fraternal twin boys in about 59 days - we did IVF so we had an inkling it was possible - so not so much of a shock.
-
Hi Emma,
Congratulations on your wonderful news!!! How special and how exciting!
I am 35 wks 4dys pregnant with twins. A boy and a girl and I hope to have them any day now as I am READY!!! And I think they are too!!! The girls in here are great and they have been very informative and supportive over my pregnancy so you will be fine.
I too have read 'TWINS' and it was a great book.
Take care
Love Kel
P.S. Are you sick at all???
-
Hi Emma, welcome and congrats! Like Trish, we used IVF and always did a two emby transfer so it was always going to be a possibility, so I guess it wasn't a huge shock for me, more of a shock for DH I think hehe. Hard work but your going to love it.
-
Thanks everyone, I guess I just never assumed I would have twins, so it was somewhat a big shock when the sonographer found two in there! I must say, now that it is sinking in, I am a little worried about my reaction, and I did apologise to her, but she said not to worry, she sees it all the time, lol. She must put up with a lot of crying crazy woman, she handed me the tissues straight away!
I am reading Twins, and I'm finding it to be very helpful, and insightful as to what it will be like, although I'm sure a book can never really prepare me for that, but I have an open mind, and think that this will help me mentally prepare for it all.
I have had some nasty MS, it hasn't lasted all day, but very violent in the morning times.
Can I ask you all that have had twins, how you delivered, and to those that are due soon, how you are hoping to deliver. My twins appear to be sharing the same placenta, (I had to ask hubby what happened at the scan, cause it was all a blur, I'm glad he is the rational one, and paid close attention! ) so I am thinking it will be highly likely I will need a c-section, although I'm not getting ahead of myself yet, I would like to be prepared. I'm a little scared by it, as with our son, I had a very quick labour, and recovered very well.
Sorry for the babble, I have so much to take in. I'm amazed at how excited our family and friends are, I had expected different reactions, but they have all been consistent! It's an amazing thing to happen, and I feel pretty special, but also very scared.
I look forward to talking to you again soon.
Emma :)

congrats emma on your twins
I'm Odette and one of the oldies in here - lolol
my twins are 3 1/2 b/g.
If your twins are sharing a placenta, sounds like they are identical. This could possibly mean heaps more monitoring for twin to twin transfusion. There is a higher risk for c-section with twins no matter what. My twins were born via c-section at 31 weeks as my sons plcenta had given up the goat. They were very small and very sick - but now that are well above their sizes for age, and have not missed a milestone.
The best place for info is your local multiple birth group. Contact AMBA either via the web, or phone and they will put you in touch with your local group. Most clubs offer ante-natal session which are fantastic hands on info from people that have twins themselves. Also our twin club has a playgroup which you can take your older child even before your twins are born.
having twins and raising twins is definately a unique experience to having one child at a time. My friend had 3 kids under four and then 12 years later had twins. She reckons that the 3 under 4 were heaps easier that her twins lolol. Her sanity and mine are our twins club get togethers.
good luck and if you have any question, please do hesitate to ask.
p.s. only special people get twins!!!!!
-
Thanks Odette, Yep they think they are identical, I've been reading about twin to twin transfusion, it's a bit scary, it's certainly and eye opener to the risks involved.
My AMBA is only open Mon - Thurs 10-1, so I'll give them a call on Monday, and suck them dry of information, I'm also lucky to have a friend who had twins 5 months ago, so she is a wealth of information.
I like to think I'm special, or as I told my Hubby today in the car, "You're lucky to have me, cause I'm a very unique person you know"! PMPL. He laughed, but he did agree :)
I'm glad to be able to talk with you all, it makes it that bit easier to understand.
Chat soon,
Emma :)

Welcome Emma, I think I am nearly the "oldest" twins mummy here, I have identical girls aged 7 1/2. My reaction was a big grin, hubby repeated the word "twins" about 300 times, it was our first and we had no idea, For us it was being told we were pg all over again IYKWIM. We felt special.
You dont have to have a csec just coz they are identical, the most dangerous to try deliver are monoamniotic ( they share the one amniotic sac, very rare) coz thats wehn they can get caught in each others cords. most ID twins are bioamniotic ( like mine) as DH says they share the same house, but have their own room.
TBH I say try natural if you can. I delivered mine vaginally at 33 weeks 3 days, and they were 2115, and 2110. they stayed in hospital for 3 weeks, but had not problems other than feeding ( no sucking reflex until 36 weeks)
The chances of them coming early is high as the body is not designed to carry all that weight. They say "term" for twins is 37 weeks.
Good luck with everything, did you get a video of the scan?? I still watch mine and listen to our reactions LOL. We had monthly scans to check for TTTS and were fine, they had a small amount during delivery, so one bub was slightly white, the other red ( made it easier to tell em apart at first LOL)

H i Everyone,
I am 36 weeks tomorrow!!! I have a doctors appointment this Wednesday at 4pm so hopefully we will be able to book in a day then!!! I cant believe I might have my babies this week!!!
Love Kel
-
Ohhhh Kel, you must be getting excited!
Emma - My guys were fraternal, a boy and girl. I delivered vaginally at 35 weeks, but had to be induced at this date due to pre eclampsia. Joshua was 5lb and Jazmina was 5lb 2 1/2 , pretty good weights for their gestation.
-
Jo,
That is teriffic that you delivered vaginally! I would love to at least try but my OB is very adamant that a c-section should be done... Have you done your birth story? i would love to read it..
BTW I am so excited I am about to burst!!!

Hi Grosby – congratulations
My twin boys (fraternal) are 6 weeks old tomorrow. They were delivered by C/S and were IVF also so we knew there was a chance of twins.
Misskel – good luck if you have your babies this week. I might not get on much over the next week or so. Found out Saturday night (visit to emergency) that Hayden has a hernia:crying: so going to specialist tomorrow. Doctor today suggested that he should be operated on within the next week or so.
-
Lakeisha ( twin 2) had an inginual hernia ( in the groin) only stayed overnight in the hospital, only a minor little op, everything will be Ok.
