I am expecting twins and would like some advice on what type of pram to buy. I have been looking at a single Phil and Ted with a toddler seat attached. In the beginning I was going to carry one baby in a sling and the other in the pram. Then when they get a bit older one could go into the toddler seat as they are suitable for children from 4 months to 6 months of age. I was wondering whether anyone has gone with this option and whether they would do it again or not. Alternatively I am also open to any double prams/strollers that anyone could recommend. I don't have twins but might as well - 12 month old and newborn. I now have three prams so have tried all the options!!
I originally bought a tandem stroller (one in front of the other) for shopping and a double side-by-side valco for walking. I HATE the tandem. It is difficult to manouevre, DD#1 just wasn't comfortable in the front seat, access to the basket underneath is crap. The Valco is absolutely brilliant for both my girls but it is so heavy and big when folded that it just isn't all that convenient to get in and out of the car, and the width is a nightmare for getting around shops.
So, the Valco is still my "walking" pram and I have a P&Ts that lives in the car. TBH I really didn't like the P&T set up for a toddler/newborn so I have used it like you are suggesting - DD#1 is in the pram and I carry DD#2 in an ergo. As of a week ago, I now put DD#2 in the toddler seat but I have an insert that provides her with a fair bit of support, othrwise she would still be too little. FWIW the manufacturers recommend babies be at least 6 months to go into the toddler seat, but with the insert I really think DD#2 is fine. The only thing you will need to check is that you will be able to recline the pram bit enough to keep one baby comfortable without it being too low, and therefore squashing the baby that is down the bottom in the toddler seat.

as a mum of twins i would suggest you join your local multiple birth group and speak to the girls in the group about what they use. They may let you push one around at their playgroup or morning teas- so you can test drive it!
they also often have second hand prams that are for sale as well
i loved my MBA group- they were my sanity saviour.
I used a swallow shopper and then bought a second hand Fitnesswise for walking when they were older
Most of the girls i know got the Valco or the mountain buggy.
AMBA has a great website with twin prams and reviews on it thats worth a look. PM me if you have trouble finding it
I would really recommend getting a side by side. You can now get tandem strollers for when they are older, but definately a good side by side from newborn. Its just too hard to sling one and put one in the pram. Trust me- i tried it. The logistics are crazy!

i have the ABC adventure buggy its fantastic...its made By phil and ted Green the origional designers of the phil and ted.
it comes in several options single & double and both with baby / toddler seats options
I have the double with a toddler seat, as i have 2 babies. it is only 74cm wide and i have no probs shopping with it or going through doors.
They are great prams the ABC Adventure buggy's. New on the market and are getting rave reviews from those that have them
they are on the AMBA web site in different combos so check them out there as well

My name is cathie and i'm also having twins and we decided to buy a side by side pram
Steelcraft. We aslo had to buy a scooter that clips onto the back for the 2 year old to stand on.
I have had Valco prams with my two and they have been fabulous. I have the twin runabout and also the sportz stroller.
I would recommend both to anyone as havent had a problem with them at all.
Personally I wouldnt put such a your bubs in a toddler seat as they can not sleep there. If you are looking at the single P&T have you had a look at the double attachment where you can put another bub behind sort of under the seat. This might be an option to look at.
Whatever pram you buy you will get good use out of. Most of us with twins dont let them out of the pram too often very hard to run after 2 kids in two totally different directions My two are nearly 4 and we still use the pram from time to time if we want to keep them confined.
I am now pregnant with number 3 so getting rid of my valco but looking at buying a P&T and they look like a great product.
I have 16 week old twins and I have 2 side by side prams for them.
I brought 1 brand new and the other one second hand.
The first one is a Baby love 3 wheeler :
Like - Very easy to push over rough ground or rough gravel
- Very nice to push on smooth surfaces
- Turns well
- Easy to get up and down
Dislike- It takes up the whole boot and takes me 10 mins to wedge it in
- Weights a ton
- Hard to get around shops due to it being so big
The second one is a Maclaren stroller :
Like - Fits in the boot easier and I can also fit other things in the boot with it.
- Only weights half of what the 3 wheeler does
- Fits through a normal door way
- Can get it into most shops
Dislike - Takes me 5 mins to get up and down as it is very stiff
- I think they will grow out of it faster than the 3 wheeler even though it does
say it should fit bigger children
- Doesn't go well over rough surfaces.
I alway pick and chose which pram I am going to take depending on where I am going.
