Twin Bereavement

Hi this hasn't happened to me but I do know some of the girls here have lost a twin either by miscarriage or at birth... Hope one of them can pop in to talk to you... Maybe try posting in miscarriage and loss for some more responses.

I haven't experienced this but my friend had one twin die at 3 weeks old after major health issues and being in hospital separated from her twin. her DD is now 1 so hard to tell if it has affected her.

No sorry, I was the twin, my mother miscarried not me.

I know it sounds strange but was just wanting to know or hear or be directed to any books on the subject

I have heard of this also. From my understand the surviving twin can have sort of like a 6th sense (the 6th sense been their twin's influence I guess) how it works I have no idea but I have heard of many twins (who have lost their twin) having a sense someone else is with them which is often reassuring and positive not negative. A good friend of mine was born at 28weeks and her brother also born at the same time as her did not survive and she has not said anything about it for her.

I have read about this in an AMBA news letter I am sure. Have you contacted AMBA? I'm sure they have info on twin bereavement, but I'm not sure if it's of the kind you are talking ie. in the womb or if it is later in life. It's worth a try anyway. Also I would try googling too, I am sure people have written about this also that may be helpful to you. Good luck and also sorry for your loss.
