The chances of conceiving twins on an IVF transfer compared to natural conception is about 30% better, I believe.
That doesn't mean you have a one in 3 chance of having twins. It means you're 30% more likely to have twins than someone trying naturally. I believe that the natural fraternal twin conception rate is about 1 in 60 pregnancies (but don't quote me).
So going by that statistic, if this cycle is successful, you would have just over a 1 in 20 chance of carrying twins, if my math is correct (and I was never that good at math!).
Though I have to qualify that statistic by also mentioning that twin rates vary according to age, embryo grade, clinic success rates etc. So to say 1 in 20 is actually quite arbitrary, as well.
So I guess the moral of the story is: your chances of having twins are increased by doing IVF, but you're more like NOT to have twins than to have twins.

Well I had 1 day 6 blast and got twins so to have 2 I guess is a high chance of both taking. Of cause everyone is different.
When I was on the 2 week wait I cheated and did a HPT and it came up with in seconds I didn't have time to put the stick down. I think I did it 3 days before my BT.
Hi Em!! I just wanted to say good luck and how exciting and crazy!! You might be mumofeight soon!! Wowee! How is everything going?
