When to book into Ante natal classes

I am wondering when twin mums should book into antenatal classes ?

Also did you find weekly classes better or one full day ?

I have the choice of 5 x weekly in May 7pm -9pm (probably when I am most tired) will be 27 weeks at start of classes then finish at 31wks

or all day class when I am 29.5weeks ?


It is not a special class for twins but I am going to ring around and find out if they hold them - anyone know for Western Sydney ? Parramatta to Penrith.

I think the first option is better because you might not be able to take it all in in one day.

I didn't have the choice myself. I started the classes at 24.5 weeks. Tomorrow is my last class. Next week, I will have the MB class for one evening and that will be it. I don't know if I'll be able to go tomorrow because I am very tired and still on bed rest.

I went to weekly, and finished them at 32 weeks ( luckily coz girls came at 33 weeks) I couldnt find a "twin" one either, and a lot discussed didnt feel relevant to me. Have you looked into AMBA??? I held prenatal nights when I was vice president, and they have lots of resources to draw on.

I rang our local AMBA and we're going to an info night end of March - having a breastfeeding specialist midwife (also twin mum), and a few others but I have forgetton (LOL) - lucky they are sending me the info.

They don't hold prenatal classes or even one extra night for twins and so far no one around here does. Only down city way. I probably get more advice off BB twin mums.

Hi Trish - I know I'm not a twins mum but wanted to chat about the classes.

A friend had the all day class and as Chris mentioned, they found it a bit much in one hit. We did three hours a week over a three week period but as you said, the tiredness became a factor. Do you know what night of the week it is? Ours was a Monday which made all the difference I think because a late night stuffed me up for the whole week.

You're an experienced nursing type though so maybe the one day class might suit?

AMBA sound very helpful. I hope you can get a bit more info from them regarding your particular situation.

Hi Chris - wow - your little ones are 2 months already. How are you all going ?

I have a c/s booked atm for 14th July.
I had my scan and OB apointment this am - T1 is now 2.7kg and T2 2kg - twin 1 has a bit less amniotic fluid (still in lower normal range)so I will have another scan next week to check them (fluid levels). I get the feeling my OB thinks I will go earlier anyway. Feeling very anxious now - 3 weeks to go for 37weeks and 3 days.
