    Doula recommendations please!

My partner and I have just decided to use the services of a Doula.

Im 26 weeks pg and I hope we haven't left it too late!

Have you had a fantastic experience with a Doula who works in the east/south eastern suburbs of Melbourne? We are booked to birth at Monash Clayton in the family birth centre.

Recommendations please!! What did you particularly like about your Doula? How did they help you pre, during and after birth?

    Thanks!

I can PM you the details of my doula if you'd like. She's a midwife, and a MCHN, and is very experienced. She was amazing during my pregnancy and after, she saved my breastfeeding journey, and she was incredible during the birth

I'll second PZ's doula, though I only met her once She seemed great, and was incredibly friendly at PZ's blessingway. When I briefly thought I was pregnant a few weeks ago I had her name down as a possibility if I could afford both a doula and an IM

Thanks PZ and Teni, I'd love her details. Which area of Melbourne is she available in?

She travels a lot. I was in Footscray, she is in the Epping area but is a happy traveler. I'll PM you

    Thanks for your recommendations :-)

I made a list of 4 Doulas and have spoken with 3 so far. 1 I felt really comfortable with, 1 I didn't click with and 1 is away until 2 weeks before our EDD. The one who will be away I liked, but the fact that she will be away so close to birth makes me nervous! How close to your EDD was your first child born? I'm wondering if I could still consider the one who is going away?? She happens to be one of the Calm birth Educators that will be running the course in August that we are booked to attend.

    Doula recommendations please!

    So here's the update...
We've found a doula who we really click with. After we met last night, I said to DP "I think I'm In Love!"
We ended up speaking to 4 Doulas and meeting 2 doulas and the first one was good but not a clear match.
This doula is planning a trip interstate and at the mo will get back 12 days before our EDD but we are confident that being a first birth, that we will more than likely go over the EDD and will have backup doulas on call while our Doula is away for a week.
    :-)
