I'm planning too now, for late February. Not much time, but I hope it will be fantastic. Thankfully we are not doing the big frilly day for 100+ people. Probably going to be riverside in a park, low number of guests (maybe twenty? Not entirely sure), old rotunda maybe, simple food and drinks, music; no idea! Being that it will be a low key affair, no white dress, but I do have a really beautiful, long, dark metallic grey dress, which the Man bought for me, very early on. I think it would be suitable?
How is everyone else progressing with their planning?
I'm not getting married, but my friend is, and she has asked me to do a Dessert Buffet & Bonboniere table
Would love some further ideas, have a year until the day, but ideally i'd like to start refining the design by April
Thank you Peanutter. I must get it out of the wardrobe and try it on. I'm not sure that it is a very bf friendly dress, so I think I will need a wrap to match it, just in case. And also if I get cold. I don't really want to throw on a coat if I start t oget chilly, even though it isn't very formal. I've been thinking, I don't want it too casual, since it is such a special day. Well duh me.
We met over cars, so I am hoping to bring that theme in if I can... And maybe a colour scheme of red/white/silver (chrome!) ......
Sunny; do you have a theme of the wedding to go with, or can you choose your own theme for the dessert table? Colours? Dietary restrictions? Do you know approximately how many guests?
Hi Netix!
The theme for the wedding is loosely based on deep reds and black. When I saw the proposed colour schemes & centre pieces I instantly thought of dark romance & desires, kinda like Twilight, but without the Vampires The centrepieces are these tall twiggy things in vases, and the reception will be held in a cave There's going to be around 80 people in attendance & ive not been informed of any dietary requirements as yet. I'd better check actually, thanks for the tip I'm still unclear if its more a DESSERT table or BONBONIERE table, I don't even think my friend, the Bride knows herself I've drawn up a rough draft though & emailed it to her of what i'm imagining for the table, and filled in the gaps with written descriptions of what I can't draw into it yet. Once I get her feedback I can move forward.
We have Kindy parent-teacher meetings today, and once that's over i'm heading out to pick up glass dessert servingware on sale!! $19.95 for a giant Trifle bown....twist my arm a little tighter!
I'm just going to flick here too later, and see if I have anything to offer myself
Have a great day xx
Cool Sunny. I must admit to never having watched any Twilight...... But I do imagine, romantic, gothic, heavy lace, bare trees, mist, etc. Am I close? Dietary restrictions are really important, in addition to what you may have already come up with, have a selection of items which are gluten free / nut free / dairy free / all of the above free / etc. And, from past experience as function manager, I would include some gluten free items anyway, as just about always, someone is gluten intolerant, and the message doesn't get passed on to the kitchen, because the guest doesn't tell anyone! Okay, rant over.
You need to start pressing your friend for decisions, so that you can put together your ideas in the right direction, and then make up some dishes for tasting, if required, and to give yourself time to get/make what you need for the presentation.
