    Christening/Dedication Outfits

HELP! I want DD to wear a semi traditional gown for her Christening/Dedication service. But where do I find them!!!!???? There used to be a store at our nearest shopping centre but when I went in there today they now only sell Fred Bare clothes!!!! Not one thing suitable for the service!!!! I've had a look on Ebay and the only thing I found looks too wedding dressish for me... Any help would be appreciated!

    Hey MG,

I don't know where you are located (actually ROFL when I saw your location! ).

I know that there is a shop in Granville, NSW that does Christening outfits - I drive past it all the time - and their ad says 'both new and modern outfits'. You could put it into yellow pages, get the store name and just goggle their ad - they sound like a sweet shop(not sure if I'm allowed to post the name or link...moderator??)

MG, I'm LOL at your location I'm in Sydney's west and there's a little boutique shop near me that sells Christening gowns and various lovely dresses.
Perhaps you might find a small specialty baby shop near you that'd have cute little dresses? They're sort of 'going out' dresses but not necessarily traditional long, lacy, satiny numbers, kwim?

my dd wore mine and my brothers gown it is very plain and simple and cotton I loved it because it was the one I wore and the one my 3 brothers wore it felt really special, this bubba will wear it to, DS wore a suit but only becasue of his age but that is a whole other story LOL

If you are able to wait and purchase in Adelaide there are quite a few shops here, one on Henley beach road one at Newton on st bernards road and one on main north road in prospect, the gowns can be very $$$ my X SIL conned my mum and asked her to go gown browsing with her, she 'found' a gown on the day ( I think she new it was there but wanted my mum to pay ) it was almost $400 it was absolutely gorgeous but very heavy and a bit OTT, she then said ' oh no I forgot my purse' so mum put it on her credit card as X SIL started crying in the shop cause she as worried she would miss out on it and someone else would buy it, she never paid mum back, an expensive lesson!!!!

I know there are a coupel of online places but I cant for the life of me remember what they are called, I will have a look now and edit if I find anything for you.

ETA I have found one but am still looking so will keep adding them it is called goo goo gear australia, but I think you may not like their gowns some are very weddingie

ETA again google 'unique gowns by dana' she is in hoopers crossing victoria, I am not sure if that is even where you are LOL but thought it was worth a go, she doesnt have many pics but sounds like she has aht you like,
I did find another one but their cheapest gown was over $250 and they even had one for $879 OMG I nearly choked LOL

Ooohh thanks girls! I'm in Vic - tee hee. Amy - I did think about waiting until I get there but I figure I will be too exhausted from the drive plus I have to get things ready (and try and prevent IL's from overstimulating Abbey so she won't be too unbearable for all the rellies on the Sunday!). i tried to get a family one too but my wonderful brother destroyed my sister's and my IL's aren't sure where DH's is (plus I would want it dry cleaned first and MIL wouldn't agree to that!). So I am still looking.... The ceremony is on the 3rd June so I still have a couple of weeks to go....
    Please keep the suggestions coming!

My wedding dress was only $500 so no way would I pay well over $800 for a christeneing gown, JMO though,

it is hard isnt it as its the same kind of thing as with a wedding if you say wedding the cost goes up same with christening gown I guess, there are some lovely ones that are deffinately worth their money but some I looked at were very plain but still well over $200 I couldnt see why TBH but again thats just my opinion, but I am lucky that I have one that is in our family, its such a pitty about the ones you mentioned that are in your family's

yeah that was my first thought to, I dont trust anywhere that dont have prices on them, you guys are in Melbourne waht about the markets over there, surely there would be something, I know we got DS a little 3 peice suit with tails it was very cute from a stall at the markets here in Adelaide and it was only about $60 I think so not to bad.
