I know there is a shop on Sydney Road, Coburg which has nice traditional and non traditional outfits, its near the corner of Sydney Road and Moreland Road. There is also a new shop in Watergardens (this one might be closer for you Dani) that sells baby stuff and has christening outfits. There is also a place called Samantha's in Lonsdale Street, Melb, but I think they may have more traditional ones.
Myer normally have some christening / special occasion baby outfits.
If I have a little girl, I will be making her christening outfit out of my mums wedding dress!
I am ripping up my wedding dress and using that for the Christining outfit.
I know it sounds silly - but I have great photos and memories of that dress and its just squashed away in a box with nothing to do.
I am making an outfit + using the left over on the bassinet.
do you know anyone handy with an overlocker/sewing machine MG? one of my friends made a christening gown for her daughter, that she also used for her son, and intends to pass it down through the family...
might be the cheapest way to get a simple and yet still traditional gown made...
Dani - Sorry - I got my sites mixed up! It was the other one Amy mentioned! And if you enter Christening on Ebay you get heaps of things come up - I even found a few possibilities for Abbey!
BG - My Aunt is a BRILLIANT seamtress and made my sisters gown. Unfortunately we have left it a little late (the ceremony is the 3rd June and the smocking takes ages apparently). It's one of the reasons I wanted to use my sisters gown (because my Aunt made it).
Tamra - I had grand plans of using the train on my wedding dress for Abbey's gown as well... I just ran out of time! But I will keep my dress incase she wants to use it as a Debutant dress or her own wedding dress.
