    veil??

    hi all,

Getting Married soon and haven't decided whether I want a vail or not. I am leaning towards not having one but not sure whether I will regret this in the future or not.

My mum has a full length veil that my sister wore at her wedding also. So that could be an option if I decided to have one. But don't want to cover the back of my beautiful dress

What do you all think?? should I have a veil, or just be different and not have one?

    Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
I'm not having a veil because it will get in the way of my dress which is white with black down the front and back with a lot of sparkly detailed embroidery, so don't want to detract from that. I'm going to have a little bling clip in my hair instead.

It's entirely up to you though, don't feel like you have to wear one because it's the "traditional" thing.

I wore one because it set my dress right off. It had 2 layers so I could detach the long part and have the shorter part on for the reception. But I had bling in the headband too, cos I lurve the bling.

TBH, I think the dress will dictate alot of it - either it works or it doesn't, but there are lotsa funky veils to choose from.

    thanks for your reply Laranna,

Good to see someone else thinks the same as me by not wanting to cover the dress, mine has sparkly beaded detail also.

Also was thinking of having a clip in my hair, but have no idea where to find a nice one?

yeah I guess the only reason i would wear one is because of the traditional stance, but I guess I should dtop trying to please others for a change.

I heard a future bride say on TV the other day ..." I want to wear what ' IS ME ' & not what others expect me to wear " ... I thought that was a good point to make

... Most Weddings i have been to the bride HASN'T worn a veil, ... so i wouldn't have concerns about whether you wear one or not unless it's a usual custom within your for example religion, etc ... !!!

Give it a go and see what it looks like - I wasn't going to have a veil either (I'm not even sure what the point is ), but the lady stuck one on my head and shazaaam, it was meant to be.

funny that, I wasn't even going to wear a traditional dress either, except mum made me try one on and shazaam

    I didn't wear a veil because it wasn't 'me'.

Maybe try one on with your dress and see how it goes. You could even just wear it at the ceremony and take it off ofr the reception to show off the back of your dress.

I didn't wear a veil, I had my milliner make me a headpiece that matched my gown.

There are lots of fantastic looking birdcage veils around now that I think are just stunning.

this is pretty much exactly what happened with me! to the point i'd decided no veil but SIL dragged hers out on the day of my wedding and it just worked! i didn't have it over my face though...
