I was brought up Serbian Orthodox, and in all honesty it would be so offensive to give a gift to the godparents, especially in front of everybody! It simply isnt done.

If she would like to give them a little gift of appreciation I would just make it a small gift on the side.....

eta - with a Serian Orthodox christening, teh god parents are usually the ones who give the donation to the church and who bestow gifts on teh baby - it is their honour to become "Kumovi". I can only assume Macedonians are very similar.......

Thanks Kitt3n, I'm Serbian too but I wasn't sure about the Macedonian tradition in this respect because my friend was kind of insiting she HAD to give the gift in front of everyone and I started doubting myself thinking well maybe it's different to Serbian Orthodox? My friend ended up giving them the gift at home.
