Help with gift giving at Christening?

Hello All, would really appreciate if anyone can help ? My friend is Catholic and she is christening her daughter. The Godparents she has chosen are Macedonian Orthodox and my friend wanted to give them a gift according to thier tradition. The only problem is, she wants to present the gift at the reception centre in front of everybody as a formal sort of thing I guess ? But she didn't do this with the Godparents of her son who will be there for her daughters christening as well. Does anyone know the Macedonian Orthodox tradition for giving gifts to the Godparents? Does it have to be infront of everyone or can it be done at the home when they go over to dress the baby ? Any help would be greatly appreciated

    I'm unsure!

I have been to my cousins christening but can't remember what happened at the reception as I was to busy playing with all my cousins!

I think money is a big thing!

I was brought up Serbian Orthodox, and in all honesty it would be so offensive to give a gift to the godparents, especially in front of everybody! It simply isnt done.

If she would like to give them a little gift of appreciation I would just make it a small gift on the side.....

eta - with a Serian Orthodox christening, teh god parents are usually the ones who give the donation to the church and who bestow gifts on teh baby - it is their honour to become "Kumovi". I can only assume Macedonians are very similar.......

Thanks Kitt3n, I'm Serbian too but I wasn't sure about the Macedonian tradition in this respect because my friend was kind of insiting she HAD to give the gift in front of everyone and I started doubting myself thinking well maybe it's different to Serbian Orthodox? My friend ended up giving them the gift at home.
