wow! ok it must be "our" thing?

My neice and nephews god parents got a tv for one of them, and the other lot got a night away in a fancy hotel.

Im hoping to get something "special" for under $200.

OMG! Thats super impressive, I'd love to be a godparent for your family LOL!

I was going to suggest something like handprint/footprint and poem about being a godparent, then a photo at the the top... And have each one starting off with Dear xxxx

    Like:

I want you to know how lucky I feel
    to have Godparents like you.
Someone who always loves me no matter what I do.
When I think of you I count my blessings and
    thank the Lord above
that I have you for my Godparents because
    Godparents are chosen with love.
    Or...

    Truth and grace, spirit embraced
A hand to guide, a smile of pride
A tender heart, there from the start
Loyal and true, esteemed as few...

That's what Godparents are made of

    Words of praise, truehearted ways
Faith to bind, a promise through time
Prayers at night, joyful at light
    Regarded rold, valued as gold...

That's what Godparents are made of

Guardian of light, fairness and right
Duty to lead, there in need
    Hope and goodwill, values instilled
Affection and love, blessed from above...

That's what Godparents are made of

I think personal gifts are the best kind And with a lovely photo and some hand or footprints I'm sure it would be very much appreciated!

What about a really pretty photo album like the ones that you get in fancy stationery shops with the first picture in it being of them and Mason? This way they can continue to fill it with pictures of their lives together as Mason grows up.

those poems are so nice Cailin! Remind me to check back in here in a few months.

I honestly thought everyone gave presents to the godparents as a thank you for being them.

But now i cant get out of it! We have chosen my sister and her dh who are the ones that bought those gifts...so we have to hehe

We gave our sons godfather (he has no godmother as we couldn't decide on one) a picture of the 2 of them from the christening and a carton of beer. It was very well received

I got christening candles made, one big one for the baptism, and two little ones for each godparent, with a special message to each one from Charlie thanking them for agreeing to be a part of his life.

The person I got it from will even put your baby's photo on the candle if you want, so it's more personal. His godparents were very touched by it, and his godfather has it in pride of place in his display cabinet.

I’m with the others in that the little personal gift is a good idea, but I don’t believe you should feel you should have to give them anything. You could also just shout them out to dinner one day to show your appreciation, but I really don’t think it’s necessary.

Yep, I reckon that your sister would understand that not everyone can buy lavish presents, and while its wonderful that she can, its not about how much it costs. I like the footprint/handprint or photo idea.

I bought them off ebay, and was stoked with them TBH. Cost me something like $40-$50 for all three (and that wasn't the cheapest one offer either but the ones I liked best) Just do an ebay search on 'christening candles', Danni. There are heaps of people making them. Just pick one with good feeback and you're off!

We had a Naming Day for Jesse where we got candles made up with his photo on the front etc. We had a bigger one done for Jesse to keep and then a slightly smaller one for each of the godparents which they lit during the ceremony. On the back we had written "This small momento comes your way as a sweet remembrance of this day. Lots of love, Jesse xx"
They both absolutely loved it. We got them on ebay.
