I usually do $50 as well when giving cash.
Dad has been invited to his best friend's DD's wedding in October. Whilst he is very good friends with his mate he doesn't really know the DD that well.
She has requested money for gifts as they need it for their honeymoon. What do you think is an appropriate amt ?? BTW he is flying to Noosa for the wedding (from Sydney)
I said I thought $40 or $50, what do you ladies think?? (Dad thought it was great when I said I would check on BB!!)

We normally give $50 for a wedding gift too.
We normally give $100.
i think if he is flying in then that is the gift.
For friends and family that aren't close (immediate family) we give $50. Best friends and immediate family (our brothers) we gave $100.
Though I do agree with spuidipa, if he's flying and paying accomodation etc...then that should be the gift in it's self!
id say watever ur dad can afford 40 or 50 is fine hun xx
Since he is flying to the wedding I would not expect anything more, but if he is the type of person who insists of giving a gift also then I think $50 is the perfect amount.
Whatever you feel comfortable with! We always do $50 for engagement $100 for wedding but if it is a really close friend or family we do more!
You can always put the money in a seperate envelop to the card unmarked that way they dont have to know how much?
Thankyou so much for all your replies, my dad was tickled pink LOL. He said "wow its like a survey of the population". He also couldn't believe how quickly people replied.
He is happy now with $50 BTW
How ever much you can afford. $40 or $50 is fine xx
Next dad will want to join!!!
I give $100 for close friends or family ... anyone else $50 or $60 !!!
Seeing your DP is paying the expense of flying there (im guessing he is paying for that ??) then i would suggest only $50 !!
oh yes i think $50 is just fine times are tuff now( well for us they are lol)
Dad is no longer working and he has very little super so I think $50 is enough. Thanks again for all the replies.
