I knew for sure my aunty had forgotten my birthday when she gave me shampoo and conditioner, not even an expensive nice brand but Pantene![]()
Ha - that reminds me, my very first valentines day prezzie was when I was in either kinder or prep, and Trevor gave e a beautifully wrapped gift, with one of those big ribbon rose things on top. I was super excited, because my parents never wrap with ribbons or anything ... I unwrapped the gift - it was a folded up picture he'd drawn of us with a big house and garden and a baby (umm, ok ... I was 3 or 4 ... but it was cute!).
I said thank you, and then he said that his mum told him he had to bring the wrapping paper and ribbon back!!
Very odd.
But one Christmas, a family member told us all to unwrap our gifts carefully, fold the paper and leave it in a pile, because they were going to keep it all. I have no issue with recycling wrapping paper (I do it myself) but that was a bit ... odd ...

DP got me a vacuum cleaner for my birthday/Valentine's Day (first one we'd had together, we'd been going out three months). He specially chose red to be romantic.
In his defense, I did actually need a new vacuum cleaner as I'd just moved into a new place closer to him. He moved in a few months later. And this was before I realised that he only likes buying practical gifts! (I did appreciate the vacuum actually, but I'll give you it's weird!)
I gave my hubby a towbar for his birthday this year, does that count as weird?
Depends on if he wanted one or not.
My DH gave me a fossilised megalodon tooth for our first christmas together. A little unusual maybe, but I love it![]()
DP bought me work boots.... size 13.... hes always getting "me" presents for him. Last valentines he got me a ps3 game, i dont play ps3 haha. He means well, bless his heart.
My DF brought me a Lego necklace. Two bits of Lego put together that make a heart. Cost him all of $4 including the band to put it on.
I love it and everyone comments on it but it is a little unusual.

Tee hee some of these are hilarious!!! Pantene!!!!!
So tonight he goes - So I think you are REALLy going to like your present..... I go.... Oh really?? (Doubtful much?) and he goes - "Well I robotosized it a bit but I think you will still like it"Cheeky boy - I have been emailing him hand stamped pendants that I like all week just to annoy him and partly to let him know what to get! Mind you last year he got me Rosie - my cherry red KA so I can't really complain!!
I wanna Rosie. Actually a gift of any kind would be nice.
My brother and sister bought me a FootSpa every Christmas for three years running. Eventually they worked out that I just took it back for a refund lol... and now it's the running joke that each Christmas I'm getting a FootSpa!
My MIL buys DH and I a calendar each every year for Christmas - given that we are married and live together, you'd think one calendar would suffice? AND the one she gets me is always a Grays Anatomy one - sheesh. I don't mind the show, but I am not a teenage fan that needs a frigin calendar - the last two haven't even been opened.
So .... if anyone wants a 2012 Grays Anatomy Calendar for free - PM me after Christmas PMSL
oh yum.. with Mcdreamy and McSteamy!!
you are one lucky girl!!! Dibs!!!
OMG my inlaws do this EVERY year. Out of protest I tear open my gifts! lol. I've started encouraging DS to do the same and totally distroy his paper.
My in-laws must be sooo strange because I also get Shampoo and Conditioner for birthdays/Christmas. Usually it's something like Shampoo for the older generation (which is still sitting in my bathroom cupboard waiting for an emergency lack-of Shampoo crisis).
When I was in hospital after just having DS, Mother-in-Law did the mother thing and took some of my underwear (knickers) home with her to be washed and brought back to me. Next time she arrived she had a gift for the baby all wrapped up nicely in pretty paper. I open it, new baby clothes and....... MY UNDERWEAR! All washed and folded. Why on earth did she wrap it up with the gift?? WHY? DH and I thought it was the oddest thing.
