I just spent yesterday helping my g/f with her centerpieces - we wired up "roses" chocolates and formed them into "bouquets" in pots. Very effective.

We had round glass fish bowls with strands of orchids submerged in water. Surroundng that was 10 small votive candles. We had round tables too. On each persons setting was a small white box with pink/white ribbons and had two mint lindt balls in them. Very simple and elegant.

we didn't have anything on the tables - didn't think there would be enough room for people, drinks, food etc - our main table (with all the friends on it) didn't even have name tags - it was sit wherever you want to.

I really didn't want to have to clean up anything later that night/next morning as our wedding was at my brother's place - as it was we took the tables down at the end of the night, stacked up the chairs, folded the linen tablecloths etc - just so we didn't have to be there first thing in the morning to do it before the stuff was picked up.

we had a mirror tile, and on that we had a glass vase/lanten thing, and in that, blue sand with a silver candle. With mixed abit of silver glitter thru the sand as well.
On the tile, and table as scatters, we used little blue hearts, and we got from a company in SA, little ediable chocolate scatter hearts. They where delicious. They smelt devine. They had a hard outter silver outter shell. We also used these to go in the bombarie (sp??) boxs.

It was our 1st wedding anniversary yesterday.
For table deco's we had floating frangipani candles. they were pink & white - our colours, but instead of water we used black fish tank type stones. The black set off the colours & speeches were made at around 8pm when it was dark. It looked really pretty. I also had others around the reception & on the bridal table in hurricane lanterns.

my mother in law made this lame swans that she made, they had flowers in them.
hated them, but she put them there without telling me and it ****ed me off.
My engagement party had that foam flower stuff with roses, ribbons and a single gold candle in them which I made and loved.

I had gorgeous miniature star fish (probably fake) scattered over all the tables in our wedding colours. I picked them up from the Office supplies shop in the section with all the paper. I made my own invites so it was a lucky find. They looked so beautiful and most of the guests took some home as mementos - the kids who came to the wedding loved them too!

For our centrepieces we had assorted glass vases with green leaves from the garden and a couple of roses- very 'homely' looking which was good cause we were trying to make the event look more casual. Then the place settings were clear lolly bags with bright lollies inside and a green name tag attached.

We had a "country" themed wedding. Our decorations were fake hay stuff with candy almond egg things in it with a small decorative feather. The guests name place card tag was in the "nest" and it was a ceramic button badge with their name on it.

On the plate, the cutlery was tied with a ribbon with a sprig of (fake) lavender, as the bouquet were lavender.... the whole wedding had a lavender theme.

Our first wedding anniversary was March 10, 2008 !!

I am not married, but I decorate wedding for a living,
some popular caentrepieces at the moment are

    - 90cm martini vases filled with coloured water (to match the colour you ave picked for your wedding) with floating candles. This goes best in a room with a high ceiling
    - 50cm martini vases filled with pink and white marshmellows
    - chocolate fondue and a selecion of dippers
    - 90cm spaghetti vases, with coloured sea salt mixed with glitter in the bottom, really long strands of willow with fairylights attached.
    - small vases filled with different lollies
    - a selection of lanterns covered in rice paper to match your colour, placed on a round mirror, with a coloured sash underneath the lanterns, then 3 or 5 tealights scattered around.

Alot of people are going for the chocolate scatters, that come in a variety of colours, they look like pebbles but are in fact edible smarties
They also like their petals scattered on the tables.

For bomboneires, the ROC candy is really really popular as you can have your own little message in each piece, or alot of people are just going really simple and giving a single heart shaped chocolate in a colour to match the wedding.

I better not give any more away incase the boss finds out

We had these trays with scattered tea lights. I am thinking of selling these if you're interested!

Sorry, wrong link. Hmmmm......technology seems to have gotten the better of me today

We have black trays with white stones and green candles with tealights in little glass holders scattered around the table. Looked really effective and we didn't need to have the lights on so it was soft and romantic as well.
